Every time they buy something at a store, they pay sales tax. Part of the rent they pay goes to property tax. Most likely they *do* have income (etc) taxes withheld from their pay. It goes on from there.
These are not bad people. They work hard. Harder than most of the rest of "us" do. All they want is a better life than what they could have had where they used to live.
