Aye. If you've never been in combat...if you sit at a desk in the Pentagon...and you only go by what is printed on paper, the Stryker looks like the right pick. It's faster, more manueverable, carries more, has more firepower, etc.
But if you are a grunt getting your boots muddy, the ASV offers something that the Stryker doesn't: protection from RPG attacks. The ASV also seems to have better survivability from IED's than the Stryker.
...And that's what you want on patrol: something that is *survivable*.
Lets trust that many, many more ASV's are purchased and that Pentagon lust for Strykers likewise declines.
