Well that's the way I see it. Arnold isn't my first choice, but he does provide a fall-back position far supperior to BustaMecha.
To: 88keys; BlackElk
"One point to add...heard a caller on Rush the other day say she was strongly pro-life, but she was going to run to the polls on Oct. 7 to vote for Arnold...because she thought he had a chance to win, could not abide the thought of keeping Grayout or replacing him with Cruz, and (the main point) she didn't think, as a Governor, that Arnold would have much opportunity to be of influence on that particular issue...makes sense to me! (?)"
So what ? Oldest trick in the book, call in claiming to be something you're not and endorse something contrary to it. "I'm a lifelong liberal Democrat, but I think Bill Clinton is disgusting." or "I'm a Conservative pro-lifer, pro-2A, anti-gay rights, and I'm voting for Ah-nold." Nice try.

I still think there is a very potent and important message in these two cartoons, no matter where one may be on the political spectrum:

Thank you Summer. Don't be too fooled regarding California's economy. The media plays that up, because they want to give Davis cover. Truth be told, the Stat of Califonria's revenues went up in excess of 20% over the last four years. The real problem is that spending went up in excess of 40%.
To: Pubbie
Yup, but don't tell the Ah-noldistas that. After all, "facts don't matter that much."

Simon Exits California Race
Spokesman Makes Announcement
Bill Simon is leaving the race to recall Califonria Gov. Gray Davis.
A campaign spokesman says Simon thinks "too many Republicans" are running to replace the Democrat.
The spokesman says Simon will release a statement later Saturday confirming he's abandoning his quest to replace Davis. Davis beat Simon last November.
The spokesman says Simon believes California "simply cannot risk a continuation of the Gray Davis legacy."
Simon's departure leaves three top Republicans among more than 130 candidates on the ballot in the Oct. 7 vote.
Front-runner Arnold Schwarzenegger, former baseball commissioner Peter Ueberroth and state Senator Tom McClintock are the remaining Republicans.
Republican stalwarts are urging GOP candidates to fall in line behind front runner Arnold Schwarzenegger. They fear the crowded field could split the party's vote and spoil Schwarzenegger's odds.
**************************************************************
Are you saying that Steve Forbes is a campaign spokesman for Bill Simon?
To: habs4ever
I just got here (different mod) but looking at the pulled posts, your complaints that they were being pulled because of who the posts were in support of don't seem to wash. For example, #50 included "You are a bona fide idiot" and called significant numbers of Freepers "self indulgent circle jerkers". All the time we see posts that have decent points in them which are ruined by some needless personal insults.
To: prarie earth
I do not. And I don't seek to state that they will emphaticly. My comments were intended to reflect a reality that we may very well have to deal with, despite wishing that McClintock's figures would exceede 40%.
To: fieldmarshaldj; JohnnyZ
You didn't answer his question. I don't answer groundless accusations with anything except the disdain they deserve. As for Schwarzenegger's proposed policies and plans for the state house, he's not a failed career politician like McClintock so there's no trail of election-day futility, meaningless policy statements, and lost elections to mine for information. Like the rest of you, all I can do is to say "watch the debates" and go to http://www.arnoldgovernor.net.

"I have advocated supporting McClintock until around the 15th of September. If his numbers don't solidify by then, it's Arnold. This trashing of Arnold isn't doing anyone a lick of good. You've got me on your side until it become obvious your guy can't win. What's the point of trashing the only person who could stop BustaMecha if it comes to that?"
Your arguments hold logic until you consider who you're talking about.
"You're doing the DU's work for it and haven't a clue you're doing it."
Nope, I'm saving the CA GOP. We can't have it become the MA GOP. It's that simple.

Your numbers may very well be right on, even if gets all McClintock gets all of Simon and Uberroths support-that still is only 10-15%

From
this SF Gate.com article.......
Spokesman K.B. Forbes denied the move by Simon, who lost to Democratic Gov. Gray Davis in 2002, came in response to pressure from the party.
To: fieldmarshaldj
Sorry, I gave you credit for being able to decipher that was a hypothetical possibility on election day. I thought we were all aware of the facts surrounding this election. Perhaps not.
In actuality, I suspect you're just disrupting for the pleasure and service of DU.
To: hole_n_one
No. I'm saying that article came from Forbes magazine.

"Huffington is running as an Independent, right?"After looking at her tax returns showing that she is dependent on her ex-husband's support and barely scrapes out a living as an author and lecturer (with thousands in jet-plane travel "losses"), I would say Zsa Zsa The Bore is more "inde-pundit" than "independent."
