Arnold was quoted in 1994 as stating that illegals should not be denied free education. This is a fact.

So far, he has only claimed that he voted for 187, but has failed to state whether he still supports it or will seek to have it reinstated.

Actually Howlin, that paragraph was a quote I forgot to italicize. Check out the "TO:" link and you'll note my mistake.

You've come up with some entertaining names for Cruz. I just hope I don't get up Oct.8th and find Bustahemorriod's face plastered on the front page.

I agree with you. The first "sludge attack" against Arnold will hit us Labor Day weekend so that everybody will be saturated with the topic on holiday.

It won't be pleasant.

Wear rain-gear.

I'm a pragmatic Arnold supporter, but both Bush and Reagan had more political experience than Arnold.

Reagan led the Eureka College student body on a strike when a number of professors were fired, and the professors were rehired. He served as SAG president, which with the communist infiltration in Hollywood, was a political job-- he even testified before Congress on the subject and in defense of freedom. In 1964, he burst onto the national stage with a speech at the GOP convention supporting Goldwater-Miller '64.

Bush ran for Congress in 1978, winning 47% of the vote against an incumbent Democrat. He also served as a Senior Advisor in the George HW Bush for President Campaigns and is rumored to have been the one to "fire" Chief of Staff John H. Sununu for using a White House helicopter to whisk himself off to a rare-stamp convention.

Arnold is pro 187 and 13. He has promised to cut spending. I can assure you that Bustamente doesn't support any of that. $8 billion tax increase or spending cuts, you choose.

Half of your posts are meant simply to antagonize, attack, and provoke FReepers.

I've yet to see you post

ANYTHING

in this thread where you actually discuss issues in California politics. The only things I've seen you post so far in this thread have been wild accusations that I am a troll.

Do you ever intend to post information/opinion about the election itself in this thread? Or, are you going to continue to call me a troll?

"Just because we articulate complex realities in the political world doesn't mean we are clueless."

Hmm, I see. But I thought 'Facts don't matter that much.' Don't try to pass off propaganda as "complex realities." That is sheer fantasy.

As others have pointed out, Tom should stick in it to get his message out and influence Arnold.

Yes, indeed! "Campaign promises" would be good...

Who knows, he could take the lead!

He could even win if Arnold "has" to drop out himself for some reason as yet unknown...it could happen, and it's crucial to have a second viable GOP candidate...

But, if not, he will do the right thing and drop out. And he will be highly thought of for doing it by most people, in spite of what some of the die hards on FR think.

I think many would agree it's perfectly "principled" to "concede" what amounts to a 2-way "primary race" in order to run a one-on-one race in the "general election"...

He will also show that we have a Republican Party in Cali, as opposed to a party of individuals who place self interests first.

Especially if he actively encourages his supporters to vote for Arnold instead. There's nothing wrong with "self interests", but "factions" do not elect state office-holders single-handedly. The GOP needs to be as good as the Dem's at aligning their own "special interest groups" or they'll stay on the outside looking in, at least in some places...(almost) "all politics are local", and look how "conservative" some of the Southern Democrats "have" to be to get elected...

One point to add...heard a caller on Rush the other day say she was strongly pro-life, but she was going to run to the polls on Oct. 7 to vote for Arnold...because she thought he had a chance to win, could not abide the thought of keeping Grayout or replacing him with Cruz, and (the main point) she didn't think, as a Governor, that Arnold would have much opportunity to be of influence on that particular issue...makes sense to me! (?)

Actually, I am amazed that the tabloids have held off so far on Arnold.

Should be an action packed six weeks to election day!

"If the chioce is between Arnold and Bustamonte, It would feel fortunate if it were not Bustamonte. Wouldn't you agree?"

You're offering me an echo, not a choice. McClintock would definitely be better than either as he's the only choice.

I agree with most of what you said, but Calibasis and and Westlake is stretching the concept of "the valley" a bit.

When I think of the valley, I think Burbank to Topanga Canyon Boulevard, from the edge of the mountains south of the 101 to the 118 edge of the mountains north of the 118.

I do agree with most of your comments. We both lament what we are seeing take place on US Territory in our midst. That a president on "our side" could possibly allow this, is shocking.

Right, now there is a clear choice. What do the Republicans want?

A far-left lib RINO like Arnold or a REAL conservative??

Time will tell...

Grey Davis and Cruz Bustamante out of office.

Strela is not a troll but in fact a long time FReeper who has worked hard for projects like the Free Republic Network.

This election is polarizing but let's not succumb to knee jerk denunciations.

It just isn't accurate to say "Simon got blown out by Davis."

As I'm sure you know, in every election, the sitting incumbant has a 5% edge just by the fact he is there.

Simon came within 5% of un-seating Davis.

This hardly is "Simon got blown out by Davis".

Simon is a decent and courageous man.

He is an easy target of the wrath of the RINOs, always looking for a scapegoat.

P.S. Vote principles, not pragmatism.

The only difference between Bustamante and Arnold is that Arnold will raise taxes higher than Bustamante can because Arnold as a "Republican" Governor will be able to force enough GOP senators to vote for tax hikes.

Your colleagues are self-destructing in front of your eyes. C'mon, dude, come away from the dark side, it's not too late to get on the McClintock bandwagon.

I have advocated supporting McClintock until around the 15th of September.  If his numbers don't solidify by then, it's Arnold.  This trashing of Arnold isn't doing anyone a lick of good.  You've got me on your side until it become obvious your guy can't win.  What's the point of trashing the only person who could stop BustaMecha if it comes to that?

You're doing the DU's work for it and haven't a clue you're doing it.

"Most of the people on this forum would gladly watch McClintock sworn in on the capital steps."

The mainstream Conservatives, yes, the RINOs, no.

"What I can't understand is why you would rather see BustAzltante voted in over Schwarzenegger."

If you've read any of my posts analyzing the track record of RINO Governors, their devastating effects upon their states and parties, then you fully understand. Busty will be a horrible Governor but will have a viable GOP opposing him, Ah-nold will be a horrible Governor and cause the GOP to split and become that much more irrelevant. You tell me which is worse ? Some of us are well-versed on history. Ah-nold's a "Cotton Whig" and folks like him are the reason why the old Whig Party disintegrated, because they couldn't differentiate themselves from the 'Rats. Sound familiar ? But I guess erudite historical analysis in this thread is going to fly over so many heads of people spewing factually vacant propaganda in their quest to get an old Cotton Whig elected.
