If the press "cared" about the Iraqi people, they wouldn't attack their liberators daily [rant]

Amb. Bremer faced a sea of self-righteous press accusers again this morning. They still clearly haven't bothered to do their homework. They exhibit a shocking daily indifference to the years of physical, mental and spiritual abuse and genocide suffered by the Iraqi people. They seem to have no concept of time, no patience, no sense - expecting insta-nation with insta-happy people after over 30 years of neglect and oppression. They look at brave, compassionate men and women working and DOING daily and see 'evildoer-military'. They look at well-dressed, sensible-sounding, powerful TALKERS, who spend most of their time accusing the DOERS, and see saviors.

Any idiot can criticize. This press has crossed the line. If they look at our honorable military and see the enemy, they are my enemy.

"Sometimes I think the only reason I survived was to tell people what happened. It has been a long time, but I think now I can be happy. Saddam is in the dustbin of history, and the black cloud has gone from the Iraqi sky."

"The terrorists and the regime remnants see progress that is taking place across Iraq. The terrorists see that Iraqi people are reclaiming their country, starting independent newspapers, policing their own streets, forming municipal councils, civic institutions and political parties. They see the Iraqi Governing Council getting on its feet and paving the way for a new constitution and free elections. They see Iraqis putting the era of Saddam Hussein behind them."

"These accomplishments are victories for the Iraqi people and defeats for the Ba'athists and their terrorist allies. This much is certain: their cause is lost. That regime will not be coming back. The coalition will not be dissuaded from its mission, not by sabotage, not by snipers and not by terrorists with car bombs." ~ SOD Rumsfeld ~ 8/21

....it's too bad all the media can focus on back home is all the negativity of us being here....we have come a long way in a very short amount of time...it almost seems as though the people back home are more impatient then the Iraqi people, who by the way are living in this shit everyday

....why can't the damn media focus on the great things we are doing over here as opposed to why they still think we don't need to be here....these people can now live a life without the threat of being raped or killed....trust me, they are very happy that we have given them hope again....Dad, I hope this helps a little....I will try to explain in more detail later on.....sorry this was so short

Later....take care...
Love ya'll
Jeff

"I met with the Iraqi Governing Council the other day, and these are 25 of the most courageous people that I've seen in a long time, who are working day after day to make their country a better place. And they deserve our support, and they deserve our help. But they don't want us to win the war for them, they want to win the war on their own." ~  Gen. Abizaid ~ 8/21

"Halabja was once a beautiful and historic place. We had famous poets, and we took many heroic stands. When Saddam fell, everyone here fired shots in the air."

"It's understandable that Western press reports are fixated on attacks that kill American soldiers. But that focus is obscuring what's actually happening in the rest of the country--and it misleads the public into thinking that Iraqis are growing angry and impatient with their liberators."

"In fact, there is another Iraq that the media virtually ignore. It is guarded by the First Marine Division, and, unlike Baghdad, it has been a model of success. The streets are safe, petty and violent crime are low, water and electrical services are almost universally available (albeit rationed), and ordinary Iraqis are beginning to clean up and rebuild their neighborhoods and communities. Equally important, a deep level of mutual trust and respect has developed between the Marines and the populace here in central and southern Iraq."

"I know because I'm one of those Marines." ~ "Bush Good, Saddam Bad!" ~ 8/19

I think you judge the media too harshly. They care very deeply about the Iraqi people and the terrible pain they've suffered. A hurt to the poorest Iraqi is a welt on the body of every media person, they are that sensitive.

What you don't see is that the media's job, what they get paid to do, is demonize and criticize President Bush. The neocommunists of the world hate the US and especially hate Bush. They hate him for one reason, Bush ain't Clinton. Clinto would put what was in the national interest, what was right, aside and do what was expediente, who served him or his friends personally, or what the neocommunists wanted.

To expect the media to do it's job and report objectively accepts media propaganda regarding what it's mission is. Reporting and objectivity are not the concern of the media, following the instructions of the lefwing masters is. Today that is hating Bush and America.

Coincidence that once the embeds left, we are back to trashing GWB and the military as usual? I don't think so. Why can't we bring back the embeds?

LoL! I told a young reporter at my local NBC TV affiliate the other day that just because it comes off the AP wires doesn't make it true, that he could go to CENTCOM and talk to parents of the troops serving himself and that just following orders is no excuse for inaccurate reporting that endangers our troops and aids the enemy during wartime.

My mother wasn't amused: "Are you trying to get that poor young man fired?"

I heard an apologist for the media, a media member himself, complaining that the "Right" shouldn't complain so much about the media coverage from Iraq, they are just telling the truth after all. I was thinking to myself, there's the truth, then there's the whole truth. They present part of the story, but miss out on the "rest of the story". And what a story it is! I keep saying it, because it is true. There is a gold mine of stories waiting to be told in Iraq, for any journalist or news organization that wants to make a name for itself.

By the (il)logic of these reporters, the most crime-ridden LA neighborhood represents all of America. They need to get out from behind their DNC talking points and open their eyes. They are currently so filled with partisan brainwashing they are threat to our national security. "Objective" reporters who can't tell the difference between Saddam Hussein and Pres. Bush have no business covering a war between civilization and terrorists post 9-11.

''Many Iraqis today express real resentment for the other Arab regimes, and even toward the Palestinians, for how they let themselves be bought off by Saddam. They feel that Saddam used the Iraqi people's oil wealth to buy popularity for himself in the Arab street — by giving Palestinians and other Arab students scholarships and nice apartments in Baghdad, and by paying off all sorts of Arab nationalist writers and newspapers. And then these same Arab intellectuals and media gave Saddam a free pass to torture, repress and starve his own people. In other words, "Arabism," in the minds of many Iraqis, is the cloak that Saddam hid behind to imprison them for 35 years, and now that they can say that out loud, they are saying it.
You'd never know this from watching Arab satellite television like Al Jazeera. Because although these stations have 21st-century graphics, they're still dominated by 1950's Nasserite political correctness — which insists that dignity comes from how you resist the foreigner, even if he's come as a liberator, not by what you build yourself.'' ~

I agree. I think another contributing factor is that they are reporting Iraq news on the cheap. They would have to send people to Iraq to get the complete story. Many news organization merely report the crime blotter these days. Not very informative, nor useful.

We have to stop condemning all the press. Some of them are actually honest and trying to get the word out. These few, brave, honest individuals should be praised to the rooftops. The scum that is ignoring the progress, that are pointing only to the few failures, should be run out of town on a rail. A sharpened rail.
