Don't just blame Clinton and Bush.

Clinton? Reagan?

President Bush has done nothing but wink nod while panding to millions of illegals. It doesn't matter a wit what any other Presidents may or may not have done.

The problem is here now, and from what I read and see, President Bush has no desire to stop this ever escalating attack on our borders and our sovereignty.

President Bush doesn't even mention the words, "illegal alien" let alone do anything about the most dangerous threatening crisis facing the United States....

"It doesn't matter a wit what any other Presidents may or may not have done."

Of course it matters what the long standing past policy has been.

Don't get me wrong. I want something done. I'm just against pouncing on Bush, and ignoring what has gone before. Reagan is idolized, yet he didn't solve it.

I'm a 55 year old native of SoCal, which gives me some living experience with the situation.

I recall reading a good analysis, which concluded that BOTH parties have interests in preserving the status quo. The article further concluded that elected politicians are OUT OF TOUCH with the citizenry, on the severity of illegal immigration.

I think that Bush is comfortable with the Texas version, where the benefits are lower. The overall numbers are lower.

If the economy is good, many people don't really want to make waves. If the economy is bad, it draws attention to immigration.

That is my analysis of the last decade or so.

Yes, and here is another one.

I think we need to have a better idea about their agenda.

Nice article, this really says it all:

Hanson targets the "center of gravity" of the mass immigration/weak assimilation regime as the product of a de facto alliance of the Corporate/Libertarian Right and the Multicultural Left that protects and promotes this system. He states, "Both parties, after all, did their part to get us into this predicament and have so far escaped accountability for the harm they have done." Illegal immigration "continues on unabated" because "it unites the power and influence of employers with the rhetoric and threats of the race industry." Who, after all, "wants to be called an isolationist or a nativist by the corporate Right and a racist or bigot by the multicultural Left?"

Despite the actions on 9/11/01 by illegal, and legal, aliens the borders, especially the southern one, is still wide open and available to be crossed by any person willing to walk a ways.
The legal authorities could, at least, attempt to monitor legal aliens.
The illegal aliens coming across the southern borders cannot be monitored at all.

We may not be able to close the borders entirely but we could, and should, make it a lot harder and more dangerous.

Well, since we are in the process of building aid stations and day labor centers for illegals here in the desert, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I know. More's the shame.
We will learn one of these days. I just hope it's not too late when we do.

Professor Hanson has...... advised the President of the United States.

It appears the President didn't take his advice. ...At least regarding this particular issue.

Civil War??? No, it's more likely going to be a global war 20 years before any civil war; as interesting as this article is it is witout merit for we do not live in a vaccumm. There is a much biggewr war on the horizon that is set to break around 2012, we are in the 1930's all over again; Ijust am not sure if the federal government is going to be the good guys or the bad guys because of the socialist uprising we are experiencing today.
