Bad News for Islamists: Bush Makes Recess Appointment of Daniel Pipes to USIP By Andrew L. Jaffee, August 22, 2003 |

The White House announced today that:
The President has signed the recess appointment of Daniel Pipes of Pennsylvania to be a Member of the Board of Directors of the United States Institute of Peace. The President nominated Mr. Pipes on April 2, 2003.
By signing appointments during a congressional recess, an American president can avoid the Senate's confirmation process.
Senators Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.), Christopher J. Dodd (D-Conn.) and Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), and their Islamist friends, CAIR - The Council on American Islamic Relations and the AMC - American Muslim Council, will be very unhappy.
President Bush's nomination of Daniel Pipes to the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) enraged many Islamists and their left-wing allies. They claim Pipes is a "bigot". Why?
Pipes is one of Americas foremost authorities on the Middle East. He tried to warn the civilized world about the threat posed by Muslim extremism long before 9/11. He's a good man who's just concerned about preserving values like freedom, democracy, and free enterprise. Does this make him a bigot? I think not.
I congratulate Dr. Pipes on his appointment. He will make a difference. He already is making a difference.
I congratulate President Bush for having the guts to stand up to the Islamists and the misguided legions of the politically correct. Score one for the free world!

Islam is the Nazism of the 21st century.

Note to President Bush: See how easy that was? Now do it for Estrada and the others. We'll support you wholeheartedly. Absolutely. We're with him 100%!!!

Thanks for the ping! This is wonderful news! There were times initially (before I understood how thoroughly the Saudis had implanted their Wahhabi brutishness here in mosques) that I thought Pipes was a little 'overboard', but no more! He's a bulldog going after the killers and their supporters. And he is also determined to support Muslims who reject the evil side of their religion.
President Bush did good!

To add to seamole's identification: Black September was a group of PLO terrorists who did the majoriy of plane hijackings in the 70s. They took their name from the September, 1970, military action against the PLO by King Hussein of Jordan, who was threatened by an overthrow by the PLO in his kingdom. He approached the US for military aid, which was granted. This was a serious conflict with thousands of PLO Palestinians dying, as well as Jordanian troops.
The PLO was forced from Jordan. It then moved on to Lebanon and was the source of the Civil War there beginning in 1975.
Every country they (PLO) reside in, they attempt to ruin.
This became the reference for the "Black September" faction of the PLO.
This also moved King Hussein to become an implacable foe of Arafat. He never forgot the assistance of the US in saving his kingdom, and became an advocate for peace with the Israelis.
