According to the speaker on the program I was listening to yesterday, only 2% of American churches have a copy up and visible. Does yours?

You mean the Ten Commandments aren't even posted in Churches, yet fanatics want them posted in government buildings?

I'd say these zealots need to start working on their own houses before trying to erect religious symbols in court rooms.

Because its not entirely central to faith,

Paul's discussion of faith and works in Romans 3 is one such passage. In verse 28 we read, “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.” Paul is talking about justification: Christ's death covering our previous transgressions. He is showing that we could never earn forgiveness.

They want to erect the ten over us...

Jesus wanted to erect two in the stead of the ten.
"love God with all your heart, and your neighbor as yourself" and He said these two were the greatest... and He offered no death penalty for failure to comply... just an expectation that we should get up, dust off and try to do better... because HE said so.

I guess that's just not enough damnation and stoning for the bible thumpers these days I guess... and not for the ones of His day either, they DID after all crucify The LORD of Glory for allegedly violating their law...

Nobody listens to Jesus anymore sink... neither YOUR church or mine it appears. But we sure as HELL are ready to revolt and destroy our nation of laws, for that good ole boy from down south... Judge "I got higher laws straight from God" Moore. After all, jan and paul, uncle benny, the amazing avanzini, coral ridge, and james kennedy... ALL know that Judge Roy has a direct hotline to the (-)lmighty, right?

"Why good ole judge roy is makin to display the commandments that our church rejects, in his courthouse for all to see, hear, fear and obey!" Just send in those donations.

Yup... fine followers of Jesus we turn out to be.
thx for pinging... interesting find.

Sinkspur, I'm addressing this to you only because you seem to be the most vocal about the issue. But it's really addressed to all who agree that the Ten Commandments shouldn't be displayed.

The first five of the Commandments have to do with spiritual issues.

The last one could, in this day and age, be viewed as a gray area....which that line of thinking, of course, has gotten us in trouble in the first place.

That leaves us with:

Thou shalt not kill
Thou shalt not commit adultery
Thou shalt not steal
Thou shalt not bear false witness

Aren't the laws of THIS land based on that??????? What HAS become the problem with you (sinkspur, etal) that you find it ok to obey the laws of the "land", yet are so willing to throw this monument away? What are you so afraid of?

I know the answer...I just want YOU to think about that one.

Another thing...don't you (sinkspur, etal) realize, that if these Commandments from God, these simple TEN commandments are removed from the public square, it opens the door for government to legislate us even more? Think about it....if we could keep only these 10 and live by them as a country....or if we throw them out and let the government make rules and laws at their whim.

Which country would you rather live in?
