Wow, that Moore guy sure sounds like a wacko, serving his country like that and all. /sarcasm

Yeah. Too bad he didn't join the Guard flying obsolete jets, and go AWOL while he worked on political campaigns.

He have an entire brigade of Freepers defending him on this thread if he did.

Wasn't King a coke head? Besides, I want justice in this life, not just the afterlife.

Apparently, the 10 Commandments aren't posted at your home either.

Check out the IX commandment.

I call. Let's see those cards.

Let's look at Webster's.

Demagogue= a person who appeals to the emotions and prejudices of people in order to gain political power.

Moore did that in 1998 to win the office of Chief Justice, and he will do it again.

"Whacko libertarians" are those that believe that anything goes (drugs, abortion, etc.) except for religion in the public square.

This is not true of many libertarians.

Yeah. On one side we have Judge Moore, a Christian conservative, the Chief Justice of Alabama, who served as a company commander in Vietnam.

On the other side we have the ACLU, militant gays, and liberal Dem activists.

Plus Sinkspur.

Sinkspur, I'm addressing this to you only because you seem to be the most vocal about the issue. But it's really addressed to all who agree that the Ten Commandments shouldn't be displayed.

The first five of the Commandments have to do with spiritual issues.

The last one could, in this day and age, be viewed as a gray area....which that line of thinking, of course, has gotten us in trouble in the first place.

That leaves us with:

Thou shalt not kill
Thou shalt not commit adultery
Thou shalt not steal
Thou shalt not bear false witness

Aren't the laws of THIS land based on that??????? What HAS become the problem with you (sinkspur, etal) that you find it ok to obey the laws of the "land", yet are so willing to throw this monument away? What are you so afraid of?

I know the answer...I just want YOU to think about that one.

Another thing...don't you (sinkspur, etal) realize, that if these Commandments from God, these simple TEN commandments are removed from the public square, it opens the door for government to legislate us even more? Think about it....if we could keep only these 10 and live by them as a country....or if we throw them out and let the government make rules and laws at their whim.

Which country would you rather live in?

Interesting. Although he can't win higher office with just the (white) Christian vote. He would have to court the Southern Baptist. Difficult task when most of them are democRATs.

Are you implying that we Southern Baptists are not Christians? By the way, even though a good many Southern Baptists are registered dims, most tend to vote Republican, at least when voting for anyone going to Washington. The Southern Baptists are also among Judge Moore's most outspoken supporters.

It is not advocating anarchy to disobey laws we disagree with. It is inviting the government to burn down a compound (ala Waco), and I'm sure Judge Moore knows the consequences of his following of his conscience. This is a great day for God! It is time for Americans to wake up and realize that their government is NOT a god. And that it is a government of men who do not wish to recognize the Almighty Who gives us life. When leaders repeatedly turn away from babies in the womb, I do not believe that God will bless a country. We elect our leaders. Our leaders turn their back on God. We reap what we sow.

Such a silly case this monument case has been.

Why do you have such a problem with words that derive from the Bible?

The words of the 10 Commandments are IN the Bible; they're not derived from it.

Actually, all the Libertarians that I know have no problem with the source of any word, including from the Bible. All the Libertarians that I know are also Christians.

You must hardly ever visit FR and read what the libertarians here have to say, then.

But it does mean that you must follow those rulings until they are changed.

Especially if you're a judge.

If someone in the police force refused to follow a direct order, and had actually been ruled to be breaking the law himself, I wonder how long he'd be able to keep his job.

If the cop vowed to keep disobeying orders, he'd be out on the street without his badge and gun in no time.

Negative.

I was approaching it from a demographics/census point of view. Not intended to offend.

Time for you to respond to my historical evidence that Jefferson is not the separationist hero you think he is.

The court didn't order a pre-existing monument to be removed or something thatss just part of the architecture.

I see so only pre-ban religious items are permissable.

What a load of BS.

I wouldn't be celebrating too soon Sink. Alabama's Supreme Court Judges are elected. 75% of the populace supports Judge Moore.

Same ole, same ole. The Feds stick their noses where they don't belong and ignite a culture war.

I suspect that Alabama was a bad choice to fight this battle because the repercussions could be awesome.

At least I'm hoping they will be and in the end Judge Moore's stand will do more for my side than the entire crew here at FR has even thought of doing.

Derive: 1. To obtain or receive from a source.

Too bad for you that your general knowledge is lacking.
