I'm sorry. I had the same discussion yesterday with iranger.

I regret if my post infer anything towards Catholicism that is misunderstood. I attended mass regularly in the third world.

I'm glad you understood. I would never take a firm stand against any other Christians...well maybe a couple of sects but that's another thread.

If the hints would be serious, best the board not be the focal point.

There are other venues.

Catuion...we are getting sucked into a heresy.

4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any like-

ness of what is in heaven above or on earth beneath or

in the water under the earth.

This monument is fast becoming an idol.

Everyone knows that morality springs from anything but God and does not require God to exist. That's why in the last 50 years we've been able to eliminate murder, war, theft, and all manner of perversity. Yes - things just keep on getting better. /sarcasm

"The populace at large is simply sick and tired of having its precious heritage trampled in the dirt."

I believe that the Constitution is also part of this country's precious heritage. The first amendment very clearly gives me the right to worship two, ten, or a hundred deities if I so desire. The first commandment very clearly forbids me to do so. As I see it, these are in conflict, and, given a choice, I will take the Constitution.

No problem. I wasn't offended; I was just trying to inject a little levity into the discussion. :-)

But, as usual, I missed the target. :-P

Re #42,
Nonsense. Pryor is a man of integrity, with RESPECT FOR THE RULE OF LAW! Any judge who would be intimidated to get confirmed ought to resign, right now!

"Rule of Law" is NOT blind obedience or blind enforcement of a law!

Suggest you refer to Walter Williams' exceptional essay on The Rule of Law in America vis a vis a previous generation's judgement of "law followers" at The Nuremberg War Crimes Trials.

Well, I understand what you're saying, but everyone has a breaking point. Is there not some ruling which you would be willing to defy?

I'm sure we could imagine some ruling which I would have no choice but to defy. But there is no way I could it as a judge. I would have to step down before I could defy a court order.

Judge Moore is willing to undercut his own position and authority as a judge who can issue court orders. Why shouldn't anyone be free to defy his rulings if they feel strongly enough? It proves to me that he lacks the honor to even be a judge.

This fight didn't have to be fought by a judge. You could raise the same issues and get it to the Supreme Court without damaging the judiciary.

Judge Moore doesn't care about that, and people ought to wonder why. If they think hard enough, I'm sure they'll come up with the right answer.

O.K. This is not going to be popular around here but isn't it so that if this judge doesn't have to obey court orders then neither do Demoncrats like Bill Clinton and Susan Mcdougal?

You lose.

There's an internet law that the first person to use a Nazi reference has to leave.

Isn't his position an elected one? If so the Bar has no power to remove him only to prevent him from practicing. A judge does not practice but presides. Correct me if I'm wrong, which happens from time to time.

Sad that in fact it is Judge Myron and his ilk who should be impeached and fired for their abusive and incorrect rulings.

Legal might makes "right" to these extremists ACLU-types.
