[history]
Complicating the push to give illegal immigrants access to California driver's licenses, U.S. officials say a legislative plan to use federal taxpayer identification numbers to screen noncitizen drivers would pose a "potential security risk."
An Aug. 9 letter from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service to the state Department of Motor Vehicles raises doubts about a provision of the bill, saying individual taxpayer identification numbers are "not valid for identification outside the tax system."

Cedillo has said SB 60 is needed to allow illegal immigrants to drive to work, school and around town legally and safely. Supporters say the legislation would help businesses that employ undocumented workers and would improve the safety of the general public.
Why don't I believe this? :-\

I could have sworn legislators swear oaths to support the constitution. I could be wrong. This smacks of pure lunacy.

Supporters say the legislation would help businesses that employ undocumented workers and would improve the safety of the general public. Doesn't this mean that supporters of this bill are ENCOURAGING people to BREAK FEDERAL LAWS which specifically PROHIBIT employers from hiring undocumented immigrants?????
LOCK THE CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE UP - IT IS A CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE!!!!

Cedillo has said SB 60 is needed to allow illegal immigrants to drive to work, school and around town legally and safely. Cedillo obviously has a whole other agenda. He could sponsor a bill that would allow California to accept the drivers licenses that Mexico already issues. Illegals in this area actually can drive with their Mexican licenses ---as well as legals. When I drive in Mexico, that government doesn't issue me a Mexican license, it just accepts my current license I use here.

Cedillo ultimately opted not to press for a vote, saying he hoped to answer his colleagues' questionsHuh?
I don't understand why this bill isn't simply voted on and passed. Since when does the Scumbag Party truly debate on its merits any of the whacky bills one of its members brings up? Don't they usually just put on a silly show and then pass everything? I don't get this.

An applicant for a driver's license should be required to present a U.S. birth certificate, U.S. passport or a certificate of naturalization. The drivers license should be built with a holographic marker indicating citizenship status. That would prevent use of a driver's license as a stepping stone to illegal voting. Further, an employer should be required to demand a driver's license or state id marked with citizenship status at the time of hire. A non-citizen requires a green card in addition to the driver's license. Fine the crap out of any employer who employs an undocumented individual. Remove the profit motive for hiring illegals.

We don't verify the documentation. The IRS is in the business of administering the tax law," Steiner said. "If you are earning money in the U.S., we expect you to pay taxes on it.">>>>>>>>
Why is the IRS ignoring the FEDERAL LAWS against illegals working in the USA by issuing them these TIN numbers ???? What happened to the FINES these companies should pay for working illegals ???

Here's the bottom of the article:
At a glance
* SB 60, which seeks to allow illegal immigrants to obtain California driver's licenses, would let applicants submit a federally issued taxpayer ID number and a birth certificate in place of a Social Security number. * A letter from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service to the state Department of Motor Vehicles said use of the taxpayer numbers could pose a security risk.
* The bill's author, state Sen. Gil Cedillo, D-Los Angeles, said Thursday that he saw no risk in using the federal ID numbers -- in combination with other approved documents and a proposed high-tech fingerprinting system -- to ensure the identity of driver's license applicants.
* The bill faced other difficulties Thursday in the state Assembly; Cedillo ultimately opted not to press for a vote, saying he hoped to answer his colleagues' questions and bring the long-debated and twice-vetoed measure back on Monday.

Would it be up to the IRS to fine employers who hire illegal aliens? It doesn't look that way. The IRS seems to be claiming that its mandate is to collect taxes regardless of whether the taxpayer is here legally or not. That's how gangsters get put away on occasion, by the charge of tax-evasion. Any gangster wishing to avoid a charge of tax-evasion can send in half of his extortion money or hitman income to the IRS, since the service is not commissioned by the American people to deal with crimes of extortion or murder, or even the hiring of illegal aliens.

I didn't say this was up to the IRS. However the IRS has a ready made *list* of employees using TIN's and their employers, that IMMIGRATION could check for illegals.
However, this would involve Immigration actually doing their jobs, and enforcing our laws.
Guess you see nothing wrong with our IRS aiding & abetting illegals to work in the USA, & aiding & abetting the Employers who hire them.
