Cheatham County (Tennessee) Man Arrested for "Arsenal" in home.

An arsenal has been discovered in a Cheatham County man's home. Federal agents have arrested the man who had a house full of weapons.

Authorities arrested Steve Lasky Thursday at his home in Trouble Court in Ashland City.

They confiscated several weapons including machine guns, rifles and a rocket launcher. Authorities are not ready to comment on the specific inventory.

Neighbors watched as agents cleared out the house. Those neighbors knew about the weapons but say Lasky is not dangerous and would not hurt anyone.

“I've been in the house. I know what he’s got in that house. He does war re-enactments and things like that, and I personally think they are just blowing it out of proportion,” said Cindy Patty, Neighbor.

Lasky is due in court Friday for an arraignment and is facing some sort of weapons charge.

The ATF is planning to hold a press conference late Friday afternoon. That is when Channel 4 News will find out more information like how many weapons and explosives were in the house.

Okay, that is the story the government goons are feeding to the press. Here is what people who know him and his neighbors are saying.

Lasky is a WWII re-enactor and collector. The "hand grenades" that the BATF found were inert dummies that you can find at any novelty shop. The "missile launcher" was a demil'ed WWII bazooka incapable of firing anything. The machine guns were either all legally owned or not machine guns at all nor may not eve have been guns (unfiring replicas).

Lasky is an upstanding citizen with no known ties to any organization more subversive than the NRA.

Looks like we have a Maryland style witch hunt. http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=79834

I will update when I have heard more.

Was his permit to exercise his Fifth Ammendment rights properly taken out prior to his arrest?

The three Nashville stations have been playing this up a lot since yesterday...but those comments from his neigbors that are also on all those reports and they are all the same too..."a great guy and neighbor, would help anyone..." They are giving the ATF hell in these reports too...

If you see any reports on TV on the propaganda distribution party that the BATF is having, please update. All I have is the radio and the Internet.

WHAT... WAS... HIS... CRIME??? Is it that hard to report a story?!?

Possibly because they do not know what problems there are yet, and have to invent some?

(BTW, who will be the first FReeper to say "THAT ain't an arsenal! You should see MY place!" ;^) )

Or better yet, where are all those idiots who approve of "reasonable restrictions"? Who have said that the law abiding have nothing to fear as the new laws won't make them a criminal?

I know they are out there. Fess up you cowards!

The ATF is saying that they raided the home on an "explosive-related type incident", whatever the hell that means.

My wife said she would be worried if one of our neighbors had and "arsenal".

I asked: if he just had one or two guns that would be okay wouldn't it? That way he couldn't kill anybody.

She replied in the affirmative before thinking a little harder about it. Just how may guns can one man shoot? Why is an arsenal worse that a single gun?

Couldn't be - he's a self-avowed Dim, and you know they support gun-control. At least in public.

I'm not sure, but I will ask a gentleman I know if he's a Freeper - he owns a store, and it is an arsenal!

How is it that the FBI can search anyone's home for illegal weapons but the Israeli's can't search Arab homes inside their own territory?

Shame. Aside from what sounds so far like the usual BATFag zeal and an opportunistic AUSA, Cheatham county is the best area in the metro Nashville area to go to be left alone and escape Nashville's problems (which aren't too bad actually).

It's a rugged county for the most part covered by ridges and knobs (some rather steep and rising 800 foot or so above the valleys...er..."hollow" floors.

I almost bought a 50 acre spread there last winter but we opted to stay in town. It is the closest refuge from downtown, you can be sort of in the boonies in 30 minutes or so from downtown....and the only usual urban liberals to be found are music row types clustered around Kingston Springs about 20 miles due west of downtown Nashville...a bucolic village itself.

Oh well...good luck Mr Lasky. The guidleines are draconian. Your future is now in the hands of the US attorney and his minions.
