In court documents obtained by the newspaper, the student pilot was described as "unmotivated" and he raised suspicion because he has trained for nearly three years to obtain a commercial pilots license that normally takes only a year.

"Unmotivated" meaning that maybe he was a little conflicted and didn't want to hurry-up-and-die.

I think there was maybe a bit of that in all the 9/11 hijackers, and Mousaoui as well -- i.e., the 9/11 guys did a lot to bring attention to themselves, but the various US authorities always seemed to look the other way.

I keep thinking these are tests designed to measure current security practices. We keep seeing groups of Arab/Islamic men getting caught in obviously suspicious activities. Asking for permission to enter the perimeter of a nuclear facility for a stroll on the beach? Come on...

Good job, RCMP! These suspects obviously weren't too bright, asking to enter a nuclear site to 'take a walk on the beach', but it does show that folks are paying attention. It's encouraging to see that common sense still exists amongst the Canadian people - in spite of the Chretien government.
