By way of explanation.......

I was simply replying to an earlier post from dmz where he said:

"Most freepers (if not all) would agree that ZERO additional gun laws are necessary to prosecute the illegal use of a firearm.

But we need additional laws (the Patriot Act) to prosecute the destruction of personal property.

If we need the Patriot Act to locate and prosecute a group that has all the subtlety of a train wreck, we are in trouble."

I just thought that the enhanced powers given the authorities to do their eavesdropping stuff that the Patriot Act has given them might help find and prosecute not just the ones who did the arsons, but the whole organization, and mentioned RICO as a possible consideration.

This group is a home grown terrorist one and should be dealt with - one way or another.

I tend to agree with you, by the way.

I went to the link that NotJustAnotherPrettyFace posted in 144 . It's all right there, from "Setting Fires With Electrical Timers - An Earth Liberation Front Guide," to "If an Agent Knocks Federal Investigators and Your Rights What to do if a federal agent tries to question you, the scoop on agencies that gather political intelligence, how the feds infiltrate political organizations, and much more."

Then if you check a little further you'll find "Prisoners." In that bit of braggadocios BS is this little tidbit of information: "The Earth Liberation Front was established in Britain in 1992 as a break-away movement from Earth First! after EF!UK decided to cease using ecotage as an effective tool in the struggle to defend Mother Earth. In spite of the ELF being an active and effective movement for over ten years, since its formation there have been very few ELF type activists ending up in prison."

It goes on to point out that a total of five, five of these idiots have been imprisoned -- and two of them were "turncoats!"

They also brag on the first page, of vandalism they have caused -- to the tune of over $100,000,000.00!!

So my anger is not at you, but the do-nothing government agency!

So who goes after them? BATF is useless -- they only go after set-up individuals or helpless men, women and children in a "religious cult" where they can destroy all evidence of their wrong-doings.
