Why is he dodging the issues?
Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to be governor. He says he wants to be a man of the people. You know what? Thats a bunch of B.S.
IF ARNOLD WANTS to be governor and he wants to be the man of the people, why doesnt he want to tell the people what he believes? Thats no way to run a campaign for the people. Thats no way to run a campaign of reform. And I should know, because you know what? In 1994, I ran for Congress. Nobody knew who I was. I went on a public access TV show called Blab. I paid for an hour at a time, for like $50. You know what I did? I sat there and I talked into the camera. I told people for an hour what I believed in. I told them how Id vote when I got to Washington. I told them what I thought was wrong with Washington, and I told them how I could make a difference. There were no scripts. There were no handlers. There was just heart. And you know what? People connected to that because they knew I believed what I said and they knew I would say what I believed. Unfortunately, all Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to do is dodge the issues. Now, listen, dont sit back and say Scarborough doesnt like this guy because hes not a conservative. I got to tell you, I dont live in California. I dont have a dog in the fight. I just think it is the height of cynicism for a guy to say, I want to be a man of the people, I want to speak for the people, I want to go to Sacramento and I want to reform government, and then he sits back, just like every other sleazy politician, and tries to hide his true views from the people. So, Arnold, tell us, do you support new property tax increases or dont you? Do you support gun control or dont you? Are you pro-life the first trimester, second trimester, third trimester? Let us know. Hey, buddy, forget the Rose Garden strategy. Youre not governor. Youre not president. Youre just an actor. And if you dont get your head on straight pretty soon, buddy, thats all youll ever be. Tell the people what you believe and speak from the heart or go back to Hollywood.

If I'm not mistaken, I think Arnold held a press conference in which he specifically addressed the major issues ot he campaign. He is absolutely right to REFUSE to get bogged down in minutia of which program would be cut by how much. That is dumb. George Washington ran on a campaign of "I fought for my country." He made NO promises, offered NO plans, and didn't even discuss what he MIGHT do. All Lincoln did some 70 years later was to sketch broad generalities: he was against slavery in the territories, for "free soil," and for temperance.
William McKinley won on "a full dinner pail." The notion that people should present detailed budgets before they get elected is horse poop.

I agree, he should be held to the same standards as the nine dwarfs are being held. BTW, what are their positions today? ;-)

Arnold announced he was running for governor ONLY 10 DAYS AGO.
Did this guy do all of this "Blabbing" in his first 10 days after announcing he was running for Congress? I doubt it.

If I'm not mistaken, I think Arnold held a press conference in which he specifically addressed the major issues ot he campaign He said nothing! Then 10 minutes after he said nothing he talked abour raising taxes. Since then his aides have beed trying to patch up the damage.

The media hype over Arnie is clouding the information that voters are receiving.
Arnold announces his candidacy an starts to assemble his economic team.
Leaks from Buffett and others indicate tax increases.
Arnold holds press conference to state clearly that Californians do not deserve higher taxes.
After press conference, leaks talk about tax increases.
When are we going to learn that leaks do not equal policy positions?
To: chachacha
Not the press conference I heard. Maybe you were listening to Pacifica.

Arnold is relying on the Cult of Personality to see him through the next month. It's a good bet that will be enough to get him elected.

Sorry you missed the before, during and after. In case you havn't heard his official stand IS.
Never say no to new taxes.
To: chachacha
The before, during, and after, as you put it, was Californians are way overtaxed. WAY overtaxed. Only a deaf person would have missed that message.

I'm performing guesswork in the absence of context here...but I take it you disagree with my assessment of Arnold's campaign. It seems you feel that it is not based on a cult of personality, but rather a substantial engagement with legislative issues.
Well, it's a free reality, and you can think what you want.
FWIW, I think your comment is a far better display of stupidity than mine.

So, in other words:
(1) Not only are you unable to point to ONE SINGLE POSTING of yours that wasn't stupid, just so I can cherish the memory; but indeed....
(2) You felt compelled to increase your corpus of stupid posting by one.
From dictionary.com on "Belial":
Be"li*al\, n. [Heb. beli ya'al; beli without + ya'al profit.] An evil spirit; a wicked and unprincipled person; the personification of evil. What concord hath Christ with Belia ? --2 Cor. vi. 15.
A son (or man) of Belial, a worthless, wicked, or thoroughly depraved person. --1 Sam. ii. 12.
Did you choose your screen name, or did it choose you?

I'm not in the habit of dragging posts from other threads into the current topic. You have a different take on that, let's agree to disagree there.
Besides, I have no control over what you judge to be intelligent or stupid.
So forgive me if I don't take your request seriously. You have yet to engage in any on-topic discussion, but have instead chosen to make the subject the "stupidity" of my posts. Why should I expect any analytical thought from you?
Your objective seems to be a pest. I'll let you in on a little secret, friend. It takes more than a prissy and snarky tone to achieve that.

The score so far:
(1) Not only are you unable to point to ONE SINGLE POSTING of yours that wasn't stupid, just so I can cherish the memory; but indeed....
(2) You felt compelled to increase your corpus of stupid posting by TWO.
(3) Can't (won't?) own up to why you chose a screen name indicating an evil, worthless, Christ-hating demon.
(4) Blame everyone but yourself when called on it.
Hm. Where have I seen that kind of behavior before...?

You are deaf to "never say no to taxes"!
I heard him say the overtaxed sound bite.
OK!
