As much as they try they can't stop the natural attraction between boys and girls.

"the change strips away some of the distractions that plague middle schools -- hormone-charged students flirting with each other, fighting over one another, fussing with their hair and clothes."Good grief...they eliminated all of the fun.

The Libs have a real hang-up with sex...

"Terry O'Neill, vice president of membership in the National Organization for Women, argues that gender segregation is a step backward for girls.
"Segregation implies inferiority, bottom line," O'Neill said. "They separate men from women in fundamentalist Muslim cultures, too. They did that in Afghanistan. It's not the answer. It takes us very much in the wrong direction. You have to encourage [boys and girls] to work together."
Uhhh - wasn't it just last month that they were separating students by "gender" at Harvey Milk school, and the liberals were in favor of it?

If girls weren't smarter than boys we'd have 20 times as many stupid people as we now have.

It appears the school is concerned with is bringing their test scores up to standard. Because of No Child Left Behind, struggling school districts are scrambling to implement courses of action to improve test scores so they don't face outside intervention.
I'm sure they're not trying to stop physical attraction between the sexes, but instead are trying to maximize learning potential by recognizing the differences in the way boys and girls learn and behave.
What if it works?

I attended a "co-educational" high school. The only classes that I had with boys were physics (on the boys' side) and French (on the girls' side). I really loved it. I mean I really really loved it. It was the best educational experience I had until law school!!!!!
btw, I'm female.
