Sigh. Yeah, the 'few' like an entire religion dedicated to emulating their bloody founder. Have you read ANY of these books? Are you immune to hating evil? Are you blind to evil? Have you read the Koran or the Hadeths? The Prophet Mohammed saith:
"Slay them wherever you find them...Idolatry is worse than carnage...Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God's religion reigns supreme." (Surah 2:190-)
"Fighting is obligatory for you, much as you dislike it." (Surah 2:216)
"Seek out your enemies relentlessly." (Surah 4:103-)
"The Jews and Christians say: 'We are the children of God and His loved ones.' Say: 'Why then does He punish you for your sins?" (Surah 5:18)
"Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends." (Surah 5:51) "The God will say: 'Jesus, son of Mary, did you ever say to mankind 'Worship me and my mother as gods besides God?' 'Glory to You, 'he will answer, 'how could I ever say that to which I have no right?" (Surah 5:114-)
"Believers, when you encounter the infidels on the march, do not turn your backs to them in flight. If anyone on that day turns his back to them, except it be for tactical reasons...he shall incur the wrath of God and Hell shall be his home..." (Surah 8:12-)
"Make war on them until idolatry shall cease and God's religion shall reign supreme." (Surah 8:36-)
"If you fear treachery from any of your allies, you may fairly retaliate by breaking off your treaty with them." (Surah 8:51-)
"...make war on the leaders of unbelief...Make war on them: God will chastise them at your hands and humble them. He will grant you victory over them..." (Surah 9:12-)
"It ill becomes the idolaters [non-Muslims] to visit the mosques of God..." (Surah 9:17)
"Fight against such as those to whom the Scriptures were given [Jews and Christians]...until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued." (Surah 9:27-)
"It is He who has sent forth His apostle with guidance and the true Faith [Islam] to make it triumphant over all religions, however much the idolaters [non-Muslims] may dislike it." (Surah 9:31-)
"If you do not fight, He will punish you sternly, and replace you by other men." (Surah 9:37-)
"Prophet make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home." (Surah 9:73)
"Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them." (Surah 9:121-)
"Say: 'Praise be to God who has never begotten a son; who has no partner in His Kingdom..." (Surah 17:111)
Islam basically provides that straight and narrow path to please God. It encourages people to be the best human beings that they can be which includes things like taking care of each other, giving charity, treating people with respect, exercising patience, being polite and courteous, and fasting and praying. Islam teaches that if you struggle and try hard to be the best human being that you can in difficult circumstances then your sense of humanity will be fulfilled and you will be rewarded greatly. If you don't, if you slander and backbite, give in to base instincts, get drunk, gamble, lie, cheat, steal, or even kill, then you will be punished severely.
Much 'criticism' of Islam is from radicals with their own vitriolic (Word Of The Day) agendas that just take Quranic quotes out of context. Or they are just retorting to teachings from extremist sects that have very little to do with Islam. Or they refer to the ignorant practices of people that call themselves Muslims, but which have nothing to do with Islamic teachings and principles.

It's the copy I use mainly because of the background information it gives on almost every verse and story. It's only a few dollars and gives a lot more information than just a randomly selected line. Also if you'd like a fairly comprehensive guide to all the basics of Islam, then you could do worse than "What Islam Is All About":

Church of England, orientalist; b. at Wantage (14 m. s.w. of Oxford) Jan. 24, 1839. He finished his education at the Church Missionary College, London, 1862, and was fellow of Madras University, 1874; was made deacon in 1862, and priest, 1867; was principal of the Harris High School for Mohammedans, Madras, India, 1865-81; became secretary of the Church Missionary Society for the dioceses of Madras and Travancore, 1881; examining chaplain to the bishop of Madras, 1899; and canon of St. George's Cathedral, Madras. Man, I have not seen such presumption in a long time. You should spend more time reading. In this thread, Prefessor Lewis clearly explains why, yes, we can condemn a whole religion for in their view of the world, islam in one, scattered throughout many countries; and islam is preeminent. and islam has an order from the propher to rule the world.
I can't think of a better reason to despise a whole religion. If you choose to remain ignorant, that's your right. Just don't patronize the rest of us.
Caution all you want; to me it's meaningless.
The need to kill muslims does not necessarily require hatred. I euthenized my pet cat to end her suffering. I did not hate her.
When women and children die, it is always the choice of the muslim killers; no on else. How you leap from that to painting the west with that broad brush of yours, baffles me too. But I shall continue tolerating you.
