It should be noted that former senior IDF intelligence officer Brig.-Gen. (res.) Aharon Levran, speaking with Arutz-7 this morning, said that both attacks are rooted in a similar source: "They are both the fault - not exclusively - of the U.S., both diplomatically and in terms of its war against terrorism. After all, where did all these suicide bombers in Iraq come from? They took their lead from Palestinian terrorism - the main source of inspiration for terrorism around the world. The Palestinians boast already well over 100 suicide attacks - and what did the U.S. do? It granted them the largest possible prize - a state! Not purposely, but the Americans proved that terrorism pays off!"

. . . and what did the U.S. do? It granted them the largest possible prize - a state! This general should really go f#ck himself.
The United States doesn't have the authority to grant the Palestinians a state, but Israel does. And the official policy of the Israeli government is to provide the Palestinians with a largely autonomous state.

They did get a state out of terrorism. That being said, I think Bush was trying something he thought would work.
and that the international community mobilize for a war on terrorists and against countries that aid them.
It would be nice if more countries would help us, although a lot are, even those we've had disagreements with recently (think Germany). But I don't believe many countries take it as seriously as we are.

Im with the General. Israel should move the Jordanian immigrants back across the Jordan river, seal the borders, and shoot anybody that tries to enter illegally.

Israel should move the Jordanian immigrants back across the Jordan river, seal the borders, and shoot anybody that tries to enter illegally. Israel could do this tomorrow if it wanted to. Why does the general insist on blaming the U.S. for the current state of affairs in Israel when the Israeli government has supported everything he accuses the U.S. of "giving" to the Palestinians?
To: yonif
That's right! It's not the fault of the terrorists. It's President Bush's fault! Yeah!! PM Sharon has no control. He's Bush's puppet. It's all the President's fault.

That is not what is being said. What is being said is that even after the dozens of suicide bombings and other terrorism against Israel by the Palestinian Arabs, under the guise of the Palestinian Authority regime, the US supports giving them a state inlight of their ideology to destroy Israel.
The military person states that because of this other terrorists are using the same terror suicide tactics because they see that some of their friends in another part of the word have succeeded doing the same thing to get what they want.

The US supports giving these Arabs a state even though they have the desire to destroy Israel and even after decades of terrorism against Israel.
The general is saying that because of this other terrorists will be encouraged by this (in effect being encouraged by US policy itself) and use these same terrorist suicide tactics to get what they want in other parts of the world where the US is operating, like in Iraq now.

It is partly all fault because after decades of terrorism by these Arabs against Israel and the fact they want to destroy her, we (the US) come out in support of giving them a state, when we should actually not be mentioning that and supporting Israel's fight to destroy them and the regime (Palestinian Authority) which is harboring and sponsoring them.
In Iraq right now, terrorists are using these same methods because they see what the US did in response to decades of uncompromising terrorism against Israel.

The Israeli government is not stupid. They know damned well that when dealing with people intent on destroying your country, you are better off having them outside your borders than inside your borders.
To: Alberta's Child
Yes. The Israeli government supports this as well. But we are talking here about the US government, who is fighting terrorists around the world, unlike Israel.
How do you feel about the US supporting these "people" getting a state even though they continue their decades of violence and terrorism against Israel?

I wouldn't care one way or another how the U.S. dealt with "these people" -- I have always regarded this as an issue to be resolved by the people involved, not the United States.
But I will ask people to consider this: The U.S. government has received a lot of criticism from Americans for allegedly "coddling terrorists" in the West Bank and Gaza. People can think and say whatever they want, but I consider it the height of arrogance for anyone to contend that they have a better grip on this issue than both the U.S. and Israeli governments.
How can the U.S. possibly be accused of acquiescing to terrorists in this case when the nation that is being victimized by these terrorists is pursuing the same course of action?
To: Alberta's Child
Well put.I get frustrated as can be about all this and have only the small sliver of hope for peace.I must continue to hope else I must accept that babies are going to continue to be blown up and mothers shot in their beds.

I believe that Israel would do this tomorrow if the US government would allow them to. Israel has its hands tied by whoever happens to be president of the USA. Israel cannot act in major decisive ways without approval from Washington. Even though they have won every battle so far, Washington will not allow them the freedom they need to win the war and live in peace.
Unless Washington allows Israel to defeat their enemies, they will live in a terrorist hell until all are dead. So goes the sword of Allah (POA).
To: Alberta's Child
I have no idea where you're coming from. Israel was FORCED to accept Bush's roadmap to Auschwitz by Bush, who used the crudest threats imaginable.
The leading coddler of PLO terrorism is George W. Bush, who acts as Yasser Arafat's guardian angel. He made Sharon promise him that Israel won't kill or harm Yasser Arafat. He has his State dept. negotiating cease fire agreements with Hamas. Israel is a small, isolated country surrounded by genocidal Arabs. Bush plays on this in his efforts to appease the Saudi despot, whose oil money is used to finance mass murder of Israelis and Americans.
