I've posted this question before with no answer. Someone help me out here.
If you pay a girl $500 for the act of sex it is illegal. But... if you pay a girl $500 for the act of sex, film it and sell it, it is a legitimate business called porn. What is the difference?

Although I'm not positive, I believe the difference is in the language of the law, which has to do with gratification--performing sex acts for the purposes of gratification, etc.
At least in my state, this is what prostitution requires. I would guess, then, since my fine state of Indiana is not a porn-industry mecca, that since the "actors" and "actresses" in porn videos are not performing sex acts for the purpose of gratification, then that allows them to escape the prostitution charges.
This, though, is only a guess.
