[history]
Lunch period at Willowbrook Elementary School in Altoona was quiet enough Wednesday to hear the crunching of potato chips and the slurping of juice through tiny straws. In the background, classical music played.
The Southeast Polk school district is trying something new this year: silent lunch.

When I was in boot camp, I remember that the drill sergeants would not let us talk in the mess hall.

She needs to get her ass out of the cafeteria anf into the gym. A beauty parlor wouldn't hurt either (although, it probably wouldn't help).

My neighbors home school. During lunch, you would not believe the racket that comes from that house.
To: idkfa
Oh this is insane!
Even in Catholic school we were allowed to talk at lunch. If they want the noise level to drop, run a movie.

I went to a military elementary school overseas where silent lunch was the policy. Teachers would walk up and down the aisles crying "Shutup!" Lunch was the worst part of the day.
The logical answer to the problem of undue rowdiness in the cafeteria is to single out the malefactors and punish them.

Kids should be seen and not heard.

I wondered what Rosie O'Donnell has been up to lately.

Thats just cruel. I would take my kid out of that school.
This crap is getting out of hand, they won't remove the behavior problem kids instead they punish ALL.

My kids are going through the same thing here in Montgomery AL. They get no recess and can't talk during lunch. No wonder kids are rowdy. Recess and lunch are where you burn off energy and learn the things they don't teach in class.

Look at the kids in the picture.
Does anyone think that the Willowbrook Elementary School in Altoona is a school for the Aryan Youth?
