Many studies have examined the "gateway" theory, that marijuana use at a young age leads to use of harder drugs as a person grows older. While there is a general consensus among studies that those who use marijuana are much more likely to use hard drugs and that hard drug users usually use marijuana first, there is lively debate surrounding the reasons for these dynamics.

what is unique about pot that it causes "philisophical" changes in people? Its illegality.
Sounds to me like he's saying, if we made pot legal, the gateway effect would disappear (unless he was being sarcastic in his reply).

Nowhere in the Constitution is it enumerated what one may put into ones body. Therefore, that right is reserved for the states or the people. However, since God has already specified in the Bible what one may consume, it is, in fact, the Peoples God given right.

Legalized drugs would make it easier for the people who sell drugs to kids to get them.There would be far fewer such people, because they'd no lonnger be able to support themselves by selling drugs to both adults and children (the high profits having been removed from the former market).

Whatever. Legalized drugs is not a conservative policy. If Jim did support legalized drugs (actually it seems like he supporst states rights) he is embracing a libertarian policy.Who ever said he supports legalization? Do you realize that I myself would not want my state legalizing drugs such as heroin and LSD? Supporting states rights is a VERY libertarian position.

But there would be no point for them to sell to kids with risk, if they could sell to adults with no risk. When the risk is made inherent in simply possessing the substance, there's no incentive to differentiate.
And of course, adults are not kids, and do not deserve to have their liberty restricted for that reason.
When was the last time you actually talked to a minor about drugs? They all know where to get anything they might want, and the WoD promotes this situation. More kids use drugs now than before the WoD - at some point, if you actually do care about kids and are not using them as a tool of rhetoric like Democrats do, what went wrong? Why are drugs more available to kids now than cigarettes and alcohol?

Why do you believe that an herb given by God to man and beast alike at the beginning of time and which happens to have grown freely almost everywhere, including here long before our nation was formed, is permissibly eradicable and controllable by the federal government through powers granted to it by the interstate commerce clause of the Constitution.
Give me a logical explanation of how this could be true.
