Researcher's Study of Twins Bolsters 'Gateway Theory' (For Early Marijuana Use)

Many studies have examined the "gateway" theory, that marijuana use at a young age leads to use of harder drugs as a person grows older. While there is a general consensus among studies that those who use marijuana are much more likely to use hard drugs and that hard drug users usually use marijuana first, there is lively debate surrounding the reasons for these dynamics.

Nope. I've seen quotes to the effect that he thinks the WOD goes too far. My point is that he does not think pot should be legalized and you know it. Or should know it.

He thinks legalization should be left up to the indivual states. Do you agree?

So what is unique about pot that it causes "philisophical" changes in people?

Its illegality.

I see. And you call this science?

Acutually it is called psychology. It relies heavily on statistics and the scientific method. In the past this type research has been the most reliable predictor we have of human behavior.

Because most kids have used alcohol and smoked at least one cigarette, of course most kids who smoke pot are going to have first smoked or drank.

Yep....tobacco and alcohol are gateway drugs....not hampuu.

If guns are made illegal, there would be less crime, right? Your type argues that concealed carry will cause more crime, because after all, crime is caused by the easy availability of handguns.

If it weren't for laws holding us back, we'd all be savages huh?

No because there would be no way to control interstate traffic. If you think drug laws are harsh now, wait until you get caught with one joint in a state where it is illegal.

I am 100% in favor of legalized handguns. I am opposed to free access to surface to air missles. Your "type" feels that anyone who wants one should be allowed to own a stinger missle, as long as they promise not to use it.

So you're a proponent of the FDR/New Deal Interstate Commerce Clause. Makes sense.

Your inability to even begin to logically discuss the concept shows that it is prejudice and belief rather than logic and reason that guide your opinion on this subject.

In my experience, the probability that you personally are making a living off the continuation of the WoD is very high, because it's as obvious as the sun in the sky to the rest of the world what a sham it is.

The point is that Pot is much MUCH more of a gateway drug. The research proves it.

Actually I work on Wall Street. Theoretically if cocaine were legal more of my fellow traders would develop a problem and make my job easier.

You are a pecksniff busybody trying to stick your nose into other peoples business, because you delight in telling them what to do.

I had to look that one up.

pecksniffian : unctuously hypocritical : PHARISAICAL

Very good choice of words.

You must have a sad pathetic life.

No argument here.

Well if you want to be precise, it's an ellipsoid, not a sphere. The point was that accepting that creationism cannot possibly be literally true is equivalent to accepting that the earth has a curved surface. On the other hand, accepting that the story of creation in the Bible is metaphor rather than literal fact cam be resolved with our scientific knowledge without conflict.

So you're a proponent of the FDR/New Deal Interstate Commerce Clause.

Where did I say that? I am against anything that makes it easier to get drugs in the hands of kids. That is as much as there is to read into my position on this subject as there is.

Look why don't you do us a favor and post the one quote that JR has on this subject. You guys are so fond of telling us exactly what he thinks. To you he is the Messiah. He does not define Conservativism. But I can't reacall his official position anyway, so let's hear it from the man himself.

You're kidding yourself if you think that the WoD has ANY negative effect on the ability of competing traders to get cocaine if they want it. Your theory is in error since the legality is a moot point with regards to availability.

So you admit alcohol is a gateway drug? Do people start with pot and then move on to alcohol?

Calling this study 'research' is like calling an online poll fact. Face it, it is undeniably propaganda.
