Excuse me for bringing this up, but AS could have come out as a conservative and been lumped in with Simon and McClintock below 10%. Just what would that have acomplished?

No offense taken. Actually, though, I think Arnold could run MUCH further to the right due to who he is, and not suffer. I think "persona" is good for about 20% of the electorate (see: Jesse Ventura). I think if you could graft McClintock's positions onto Arnold, we could already order the drapes for the governor's mansion.
