In other words, they don't want America to grow.

There is very little disagreement amongst economists about policies that lead to growth. That they are not instantly adopted can only be explained by the fact that a majority of our representatives belong to the "THEY" camp described above.

Excellent post! I don't always agree with Farah, but I do here.

Name the EPA, with its taxpayer funded green agenda, viciously forcing its precepts down the throats of landowners and businesses, with regulatory powers that have the force of law, fining businesses, running solid citizens off their lands, pushing the environazi (in the clearest and most literal sense of the word) down American throats!

They should be dismantled, defunded, run out of the country! They belong in socialist Europe! They and their filthy policies will ruin us!

This attitude is everywhere. It's been summed up by two acronyms, NIMBY (Not in my backyard) and BANANA (Build absolutely nothing anywhere near anybody) and it is pervasive.

We have the means to be totally energy independent. If we were we would need nothing from the rest of the world except those semi-luxury goods that we choose to buy. An economically independent US would be free of the political pressure our socialist trading partners now exert (The Kyoto Accords for example) and our indiginous socialists would lose valuable support.

It's been said by me and many others elsewhere but it's all, always about control. The left seeks to control all of our choices and making us artificially dependent upon foreign powers is a way to keep us weak.
