All the candidates should be repeating the same question over and over:
"Given the abysmal performance of the Davis Administration, why should anyone in the administration be given a promotion?"
Once that thought sinks in a little bit, Bustamante's support should plummet among everyone except the hard-core Ds.

Too long and complicated for the average Californication voter. They will never be able to remember more than 6 words and none with more than 5 letters.

The logic is there, but in actuality, the Lt. Gov. isn't part of the Governor's administration. It's a separate constitutional office, filled by a separate election. During Jerry Brown's tenure as Governor (I think it was his second term), there was a Republican Lt. Gov., Mike Curb.
But I think your logic is correct. Why get rid of one incompetent politician only to replace him with someone who shares the same philosophy of government, and if anything, is even more dull than his Grayness.
