Let's not forget that Reagan was trustworthy and trusted as Gray Schwarzenkennedy was not and is not and will never be. Grey Schwarrzenkennedy's idea of compromise is kill the unborn and turn the survivors over to homosexual married spouses who want to "share their love with a child," take your guns away and reassemble Gray Doofus's crack team of spendaholics, taxaholics and special interest mavens like Perenchio under that paragon of GOP virtue Warren Buffett with Planned Barrenhood Wilson as the puppetmaster behind it all.

Reagan's idea of compromise was to demand a 40% cut in taxes, listen to the demonrats whine in chorus, call upon the public to deliver his message to the special interest encrusted tax and spend artists in the legislature, abuse the legislators (with a healthy dose of humor at their expense) drive his poll numbers up and theirs into graveyard territory and settle for 25% tax cuts this year while planning next year's further assault.

Rondog: Puhleeze don't embarass yourself or Schwarzenkennedy the RINO marionette for the usual gang of suspects by suggesting a comparison with Ronaldus Maximus. If you don't see the difference or care, actual Republicans, actual conservatives and those immune to celebritymania and selling out do care.

deport, That race out in CA can only be decided by CA voters, so it's smart for GOP leaders outside of CA not to say anything other than that.

But, even so, these are two pretty funny cartoons below.

And, I wish the best of luck to those CA voters - they have a mess they'd like to clean up, and I just wish them well. PS ambrsoe, FYI.

I'm not a Californian, but I am an American and I have a political opinion.

I know exactly whats going on in the Golden State.

Beg to differ, but those two statements contradict each other ...

People are falling all over themselves to get on the Arnold bandwagon. People have become infatuated with Arnold and his megastar personna and public hijinks. It would appear that substantial policy agenda and detailed/specific plans aren't important to many of the Golden States residents. So be it.

You have an opinion based on the Media hype that you see. You have no experience in living here and knowing how desperate situations are with the economy, taxes, the deficit, jobs, business's leaving, etc.

Please don't arm chair quarterback and tell us that your "from afar media view" makes your political opinion of any regard for the real facts that are facing the voters here in this state. Come here and live a few years and tell me how effective any sort of "hold out for the very right" attitude would be.

McClintock has the right formula. The question is can he raise the right votes. The answer is most likely no, and having "Arnold" over "Bustamente" is a much better alternative than "3 more years." Regards

(3) We see Dem Diane Feinstein, who knows the above, and wouldn't mind seeing Arnold win and do a worse job than Davis, so: she is telling people not to vote for anyone in part 2 of the ballot because then that helps Arnold win (and not Bustamante).

Wow!! what a jump in logic you just made ... You really think that Feinstein is secretly interested in having Arnold become governor? Your earlier statement about "not living in California" was proven loud and clear with that logic.

Feinstein is simply making it real clear that NO on the Recall is all it will take, then there is NO election. She is drumming up the phone poll stuffing voting troops.

Agreed, 110%. See post #167

Your whole post is on the money. I do not live out there, but have at three diffeent times, during one of which I got to vote for Prop. 13. So I at least have some realization of what is at stake.

As goest Mexifornia on illegal immigration, so goest Mexizona, Meximex, and Mexitex. As for the socialistic policies, even New York isn't as far along as California is in chasing off businesses. But the whole US had better be paying attention, for many places are sliding towards those kinds of problems.

The relentless pressure from liberal media seems to beating down Schwarzenegger's support in polls, but I wonder how real that is. Friends out there tell me the biggest worry is the unions.

How do you see S's chances and what should McC do?

Bustamante could win this. Arnold could win this. Nobody else

Tha's a nice, two spoonfulls dose of reality.

Any conservative not supporting Schwarzenegger now has to be hoping maybe the voters are still mad in three years and maybe Bustamente really flunks the course, badly enough for Californians to grit their teeth and vote for a "real" conservative in '06, McC or whomever.

In the interim, Republicans will have to come up with a reason why they shook the tree hard enough in '03 for Davis to fall out, but couldn't vote for the only candidate with enough support to possibly win.

Re your post #190: My logic is on the money -- according to the writer of five Reagan biographies, who recently wrote a NYT Op-Ed that everyone here blew off. But, I think what this guy says makes some sense: PITY THE WINNER

>>>Beg to differ, but those two statements contradict each other ...

Not at all.

>>>You have an opinion based on the Media hype that you see.

As an American, I have every right to speak out and I will. My political opinions are gleaned not only from the mediums of tv and radio, but from the internet, newspapers, magazines and the numerous long time resident conservative Republicans, I personally know that live in California today. They range from newspaper editors, to radio talkshow hosts, to average, hard working American citizens. Btw, I don't pay attention to media hype either.

>>>Please don't arm chair quarterback ....

Sorry, but you're way off base. We're talking about the election of a new governor and I don't need to live in California to comprehend the problems they face, nor to offer an informed opinion. I wasn't born yesterday, bucko.

In addition, what happens in CA's economy actually impacts the entire nation. Thanks for your great posts on this thread, Reagan Man.

Simon did the right thing, as keeping the recall successful is more important than any one candidate.

I don't know about McClintock's chances, but I respect the hell out of him for reasons that I can't belabor here. He is good and right on in what needs to be done. But unless he gets manna from heaven and starts one hellavu campaign so he's not such an unknown to so many people, he has no chance in hell. He's a lot more charismatic than Davis, but he does not have the same personality appeal that people need since TV campaigns started with Kennedy and Nixon. Schwartnegger has that part down ...

I am not in love of RINO's, but I know that this state can do a lot better with a RINO than with Bustamente

good article, but I don't read in it anywhere any implication about Diane Fienstein wanting Arnold to inherit this mess ...

I do agree in the "lose lose lose" analogy. There is a certain Republican "win" by leaving this mess in Democrat's hands, but at the same time this state needs fiscal responsibility NOW to end business "flight" and to put the credit worthiness stamp back on Sacramento.

As your own referenced article points out, Ueberoff and McClintock have fewer chances than Arnold, so I stay with the Terminator. Although I disagree with him on many conservative issues, I am also coming to realize that he is more of a conservative than the press wants us to believe.

He may also be a one-term wonder, having to do some unpopular things to turn this state around. He owes no allegience to anyone, so he can do what needs to be done and then leave.

The worse thing that could happen is for the Recall to fail, the second worse thing is for Bustamenti (spelling?) to win ...
