LA Times, again: "McClintock Surge Continues"

Whow. Adding together both McClintock and Simon, they move up to third place (from third and fourth places).

Don't get dizzy from the motion. clue: McClintock is short on MONEY.

If he is the messiah for California's MONEY problems, why can't he better manage his own?

(Kinda like Simon's non-campaign last time around - reflecting his lack of management skill)

But that's why I also believe Arnold will split the Dem vote,

But the dem vote split two ways still puts Bustamante in.

I'll tell you the truth, here is what I honestly believe mnay well happen: Arnold and Cruz split the Dem vote, and McClintock could win it, if the conservatives in CA all got behind him. I really think that is possible. McClintock has the best vision, the most experience, and would be successful in getting CA on its feet again. I think CA has a golden opportunity to pick itself up with this candidate, especially when McClintock is smart enough to see Gov Bush as a model to emulate in terms of fiscal policy. I hope the CA voters don't blow it.

'dats exactly what I thought! McClintock gets my vote.

The job of the candidate, especially a Republican candidate, is to know how what one says will be spun and then deny the mediots the opportunity. Buffet was his choice and he should have known what came with it.

He flunked on that one.

truth_seeker, Not having as much money as, say, Arnold for a state gov race, does not lead me to believe McClintock can not "manage" money. McClintock needs to raise money, yes. But, I don't agree that the richest candidate automatically "wins." Look what happened to Ariana's husband when he ran for office in CA. How much did that guy spend? Yet, he lost. Money matters, but so does integrity, experience, a vision, etc. But, again, you're right - McClintock does need to raise money to stay in this race.

I suppose you would say the same of Bush, huh?

Actually, no. Bush has been very clever at playing rope-a-dope with the mediots.

OK, I saw a clip of Arnold's press conference (though I am still waiting to see more of his remarks). I heard Arnold say something like "We didn't get into this mess in two weeks, so it will take a lot longer than two weeks to get out of it." Well, to me, if that was the substance of his press conference, it could have been titled:

"Why CA Voters Should Give Gov Davis More Time in Office - And Reject The Recall"

That was my take on what I saw.

Re your post #104 - I'm not so sure about that. What about the independent in CA? Don't they count? McCLintock comes off very weel when he speaks on TV.

BTW, I read a big fullpage NYT article today about the CA recall, and found it interesting they found space to mention Arnold, Cruz, Davis, the baseball commissioner guy running, and, I believe, Simon. But, no mention of McClintock. Either they don't know he's running, or they didn't want to mention him for some reason.

McClintock needs to raise money, yes. But, I don't agree that the richest candidate automatically "wins."

The tasks for McClintock are: #1 run a winning campaign, and then #2 govern well. You must do #1 with excellence, to get to #2.

Don't you wonder why McClintock hasn't got enough money? He didn't just jump in, rather he's been in it from the start.

Make no mistake: I think he is best on the issues. I just doubt he has a realistic chance of winning.

And I am admittedly in the camp of voters who favor winning, half a loaf, etc. Something about adjusting one's expectations to reality.

Thanks for all your hard work. I know: I did a multi-toon thread a few months ago.
