NEW YORK - Two days, two cancellations for Roseanne Barr.
ABC said Tuesday it was pulling the plug on "The Real Roseanne Show" after two weeks, replacing the reality show with comedy reruns until the new season starts in September.
A day earlier, the ABC Family cable channel canceled "Domestic Goddess," Barr's cooking show that was to begin airing Sept. 20. Barr is scheduled to undergo a hysterectomy this week and production had barely begun.
Since ABC's "The Real Roseanne Show" was about her pitching the cooking show to various networks, its cancellation rendered the reality series pointless.
Its poor ratings didn't help, either.
"We're confident the audience would have grown, given time, but with ABC Family's decision to cancel `Domestic Goddess' due to Roseanne's illness, the show's dynamic shifted irrevocably," said executive producer R.J. Cutler. "We are very sorry that it didn't work out and we wish Roseanne the best and a speedy recovery."
Starting Wednesday, it will be replaced by reruns of "George Lopez" and "The Drew Carey Show," ABC said.

Good. I hope this is an indication of the end times for these crappy "reality" shows. These past few years have been some of the most dismal in television history.

Good grief. I thought that show went off the air years ago. Talk about beating a dead horse...

Even though I'm not a Rosanne (or TV fan) it seems a waste of money to develop a show, pay people and buy advertising - then take it off after two weeks. Wasteful liberals? NOOooooooo! /s

ABC was probably looking the type of ad revenue Rosanne's show was projected to pull in and comparing it to the revenue they were already pulling in with existing shows.

"The Real Roseanne Show"
With a title like that, they were doomed. Roseanne is not exactly a beloved character.

I agree. I saw her on Leno recently and she seemed to be making an effort to convey that she was no longer a mean person.

What Roseanne show? That didn't even last long enough for me to ignore it.

Roseanne, huh?
I remember the night she mercilessly attacked Tom Selleck for his support of the NRA. A bunch of us Freepers went over to her forum, on the network's boards. Talk about the wolves falling upon the fold! Even I felt sorry for the liberals, that night.
Well, almost.

Roseanne, like so many before her, cannot just take the money and run. There's something there that needs the spotlight. Mary Tyler Moore tried and lost, as did Lucy and a host of lessers. It's pitiful when these old broads can't realize the sun has set.

I remember the night she mercilessly attacked Tom Selleck for his support of the NRA. Uhhh ... wasn't that Rosie O'Donut who did that instead?
Roseanne Barr's bad enough though - she made an unfunny, disrespectful "comedy" routine out of singing the Star Spangled Banner at a baseball game once.

It's pitiful when these old broads can't realize the sun has setAnd she was broader than most. Honestly, I think I have seen her a total of about 3 minutes in my entire life and found her as unappealing as it is possible for a clinically functional female of reproducible age (yuck what an image) to be.
I don't care how they rationalize it THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!

My boss had a hysterectomy on a Friday and was back at work on Monday. She did the same thing when she had her gall bladder out. The only concession she made was to wear sweats for awhile, instead of a uniform.
But on the other hand, "Roseanne's illness" works for a polite reason to cancel the shows.

I've seen that clip. Tom really came off like a hero there. Totally blindsided, but he never got nasty or personal and made a very compelling and lucid argument. He was a perfect gentleman and weathered the her blitzkrieg in amazing fashion.
I was totally in awe of the guy after that. I don't know of anybody who I could say could pull that off cold like he did.
