Considering how Tommy went from an unbelieving savage who wore animal skins and dressed half naked, slept with half the tribal women, drank animal blod as normal, maybe smeared feces in his hair, sacrificed animals to his pagan gods...Yeah, Tommy looks good now. Now that he is a believer.
Isn't it good that Tommy shows his change through his manner of dress? That he is no longer a savage?
But, you would rather see him with a feather in his head, wearing a loin cloth, half naked, with feces smeared in his hair, drinking the blood of the animals he slew.

Your straw-dog response is not fitting.
A hideous extreme is not the only option.
Many cultural distinctives are quite neutral vis a vis the Gospel. It is an insult to God's love in diversity, uniqueness, etc. to presume that some homoginized lowest common denominator of period European dress and customs are akin to Godliness.
Very saintly churches in Africa have included tribal groups worshipping anointedly and freely with bare breasted women for decades. I don't know if it still goes on or not. God's Spirit would routinely move dramatically in the services so it was clear Holy Spirit was not the least bit put off by native dress in those cases.
Smug European snobbishness is NOT the same as Godliness.

Considering how Tommy went from an unbelieving savage who wore animal skins ... You mean like the animal skins that God saw fit to give to Adam and Eve?
