Controversial talk show host Michael Savage has apparently bounced back after a tumultuous summer and will begin airing in New York tonight.
Earlier this summer MSNBC fired Savage from his weekend TV program after his insensitive remarks about gays.
NewsMax learned today that Savage will be airing again in New York on powerhouse talk station WOR (710 AM).
WOR announced that Savage would join its regular weekday lineup and be heard weekdays from 8 to 10 p.m. Eastern time.
"Based on the incredible ratings success of 'The Savage Nation' in every market where it airs, including, until recently, New York, it is obvious that talk radio listeners want to hear what this firebrand broadcaster has to say and to weigh in with their own points of view," states Bob Bruno, vice president and general manager of WOR.
"Michael Savage's passionate style and no-holds-barred approach to the controversial issues of the day is the perfect complement to other strongly opinionated WOR personalities like Bill O'Reilly, Bob Grant and Lionel.
"The decision to air 'The Savage Nation' will doubtlessly generate a wide range of reactions," Bruno said.
"However, in the end, we simply believe that Michael Savage is a compelling, intelligent and highly entertaining talk radio host who deserves to be heard again here in New York. WOR is pleased to provide the platform for his return."
In San Francisco, KSFO lost its bid for Savage to KNEW, Clear Channel's powerhouse in San Francisco, he tells us.
Talk Radio Network syndicates his "Savage Nation" show nationwide.

Michael Savage and Bob Grant on the same radio station? You'll have to sign a release before you listen. Talk about double-barreled excitment.
Do they still have Dr. Ronald Hoffman afterwards? He'll be good for calming people down.

I like Monica Crowley on ABC.

KNEW was no powerhouse. Before Savage they were under the radar. They use to be a hi-tech station.

I love Mike Savage. He is never boring.
To: Brian S
Savage is probably the only host I know who talks about literature, philosophy, that kind of stuff.

I've always liked Savage. He should have never been fired.

Then you don't listen to Hugh Hewitt. Today's Shakespeare segment dealt with Richard III (II? get them mixed up)in terms of the CA recall.

"Somebody's gotta say these things...It might as well be THEM!!!" But WHY did they kill Savage's momentum by leaving Jim Cramer on at 7? Couldn't they have Bob on from 5-7 (or 5-8!) and all of Savage from 7-10? (or 8-10)

Jim Cramer is such a geek. I can't stand listening to him. Don't even like to see him on CNN or whatever newscable show he's on.

Who's Cramer, i didn't hear him last time I was back there.

Oh, wow, that's interesting. Richard III is the villainous one, and Richard II was the sensitive, poetic one, who wasn't a good leader. He was overthrown by the eventual Henry IV.

I like Limbaugh but don't listen everyday anymore. If I'm going to catch his show, I try to catch the first 20 minutes of the first hour to see where he's going for the day. Some days are better than others.
I'll listen to Mike Savage although it is generally more when I am out driving around so I don't catch a whole show (but I can catch several 20-40 minute blocks).
I don't care for Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Alan Colmes, or Cousin Bruce (the other syndicated names who get airtime in Houston). Houston had Laura Ingrahm for awhile, she was okay (better than the above names). GG Liddy didn't stay on long in Houston this time either.
I dislike all of the local talk hosts on 950AM KPRC and don't like some of the substitutes on 700AM KSEV. I like hearing the tax collector Paul Bettencourt when he subs (he actually fights against local efforts to raise taxes). Ed Hendee is also a good substitute. Houston had better conservative talk radio a few years ago, now the trend seem to be whiney hosts (who also soft sell a socially liberal agenda). Michael Savage isn't whiney (he has complaints but he explains his beefs and also talks about other things).
