[history]
The following are excerpts from a sermon given recently by the Rev. Steven R. Randall at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Catonsville, Md.
Our country was shocked and shaken down to our very core [on September 11, 2001] as terrorists who had no regard for the lives of thousands of people but served a false god of violence and blind destruction attacked our country.

"Here I stand, I can do no other."
And the problem is exactly the same as in Luther's day - men who would subvert and twist the Word for their own earthly purposes.

All I can say is AMEN! And if I were a member of his flock, I'd be following him out the door; voting with my feet don't you see!

Statement: "And the problem is exactly the same as in Luther's day - men who would subvert and twist the Word for their own earthly purposes."
Response: The conduct by this "Bishop" seems far more foul than the conduct of the corrupt men in Luther's day!

The Episcopal Church is no longer a worthy vessel to carry God's truth to the world. Pretty much sums it up. Second straight Church to make this Christian unwelcome. (Meaning second church in a sequence -- not that the Church is "straight" any more).

I wonder where he was when his "church" was endorsing abortion.

Can you provide a link that verifies that claim? I haven't been able to find any info on that subject. Thanks.

When I am forced to leave this place, I look forward to planting a new church with those who choose to follow . . . That's what the whole thing is about -- not only take over the church, but also force Godly people out of positions of influence in the church. "When I am forced to leave this place," note that it is a question of when and not if. The liberals will make it sound like the church is one big happy, open-minded debating society where all views are welcome. Even controversial views. Didn't they just elect a gay Bishop, after all? That was controversial. Now that they made a decision the liberals favored, being "controversial" will become taboo. Someone might mention a "controversial" idea that the liberals don't like, and they won't allow that. Henceforth, being controversial will be "evil" and "divisive." I suspect that very soon, any pastor who still holds to Biblical standards will find himself out of a job. No self-respecting (if not God-fearing) leftist-dominated organization can exist without purges. Those who will lead the purges will no doubt make solemn speeches about how getting rid of "controversial" people will help "diversity" and "tolerance."

Does anyone else find it funny that members of a church founded to procure a divorce are now angry about "immorality" from that same church?

Here's a link to the latest Virtuosity Digest. The Virtuosity Digest summarizes important Anglican news articles for the previous week. Interestingly, one of David Virtue's articles in this week's digest cites an article posted here at Free Republic.

Common misconception. The 1533 annullment (not divorce) Henry VIII got from Catherine of Aragon was from the Catholic English Church. He appointed himself Primate of the church and made himself a new Archbishop, since Rome would not give the English Catholic Archbishop permission to perform the annullment. The Protestant Church of England did not officially exist for another 25 years, under Edward VI.

If only the blessed Dr. Luther had given in to King Henry VIII on his unscriptural divorce! But alas, the rest is history! Thank God he didn't! Some would argue that he should have given in. This is severely misguided. Giving in to theological liberalism is even worse than giving in to it politically. Theology and compromise do not go well together, though most think this way in our post-modern world.
