I do too, but like Orwell said, the first duty is to point out the obvious.

That's where we are at this point. Look at some of what transpired in the Episcopalian debate. You will not believe your eyes.

There is exactly zero verses in the bible condoning homosexual sex. From literally nothing, they have so tortured the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, Leviticus, Paul, and every other reference to the sinfulness of homosexual sex that we now have an openly homosexual bishop.

What is the constitution but an affirmation of truths that we hold to be self-evident? Nearly 7000 years of recorded history, and the US was the first nation to affirm those truths.

I can think of nothing more appropriate under the circumstances than to affirm the obvious, that marriage is the sacred bond between man and wife.

I am as sorry as you to see that it has come to this.

RinaseaofDs, I understand what you are saying, but I am afraid that if the people do not want to see the obvious...a constitutional amendment will not help. Where will it end? Like I said, we will ultimately end up with a constitution that specifies every jot and tittle of our lives and an unbelivably inefficient bureaucracy to try and enforce it all...IOW, we will not be free.

Our society was meant to be self-governing. Moral people do not need myriad laws to govern them...they govern themselves. When we are forced to inact myriad laws to try and govern and increasingly immoral people...we end up with tyranny, chaos and violence. I hate to say it, but that is where we are headed unless we experience a moral and religious revival of major proportions.

I pray for that eventuality...and then go out and work for it by sharing convictions in a reasoned fashion with as many as I can. I pray there is enough of a remnant here in this nation that will make progress with their friends and neighbors...that will open their mouths...so that people will choose the right path themselves.

In the end, either we as a people will choose for ourselves to see the obvious moral foundations to our society...or God in Heaven will ultimately point it out to us in an unmistakable way.

Jeff

i think we need to have a new constitutional convention and try to work out a number of different amendments to the constitution.

1) Reaffirm that the Federal Government has no rights other than those granted to it in the constitution.
2) Remind the court that the constitution really, really means what it says -- there are no emanations and penumbras.
3) And finally, I think we need to take a good hard look at banning appointments-for-life for federal judges. THey have simply usurped too much power over the last 30 40-50 years.
