Just one more reason to be glad Clinton aint Prez anymore:
He'd be out there blaming right-wing extremists for this attack on world Government.

My gut tells me it was our senators. Imagine what would happen to our markets if we lost 7 senators.

As I understand it, the UN in Iraq didn't want protection. Fools. When will people realize that these terrorists don't care who they kill .. They blow themselves ups to kill other people .. They are just evil people

See a few posts up from this; our 7 Senators were scheduled to meet with De Mello in that very building later in the day - very close call.

Sounds like a slip of the tongue to me. They really thought we were all wrong, didn't they?

A salient point being carefully avoided in the media. Probably not good for the UN "Image" to be protrayed as the idiots they are. Linda Vester is addressing it .. Good for her

maybe this will be a cue for them to get out of there, its a war zone, not a place for tours and photo ops.
To: oceanview
It was announced earlier on CNN the senators are leaving Iraq earlier than scheduled (probably immediately) for Kuwait.

Very Good. No need to be heroes, congress-critters. Besides, if this was plan A, perhaps there's a plan B?

They were have to held discussions with Sergio Vieira de Mello, the chief U.N. official in Iraq, who was injured [make that killed] in the attack." Makes you wonder who the real target was, De Mello or the senators.
If that is true and I was to take a guess .. the Senators were the main target

hmmm, 1983 bombing was Hezbollah, which was tied to Iran ... if we find Hezbollah and/or Iran working close to AQ ... whooo boy, prepare for it to get hotter in the ME.
Bush needs to think about the next steps carefully here ... the strategery is working - the flies are coming right to the bug zapper ... now we have to figure out how to swat down the networks.

Yes, there'd be absolute h**l to pay. Fortunate that none of our people were injured. Unfortunate that we didn't send 7 Dem senators.

I'm thinking the same thing. I'd want out ASAP because I find it hard to believe our power-hungry senators could possibly visit Iraq without stupidly publishing their schedules, which makes one wonder if they were indeed the targets.

I don't understand. How can this be? I thought the UN was there to protect the innocent Iraqis and Islamofascists from the evil Americans? How can the UN, that benevolent of all organizations, be attacked like this? Don't the fanatics know that the UN is there to save them from the dirty American soldiers, to promote diversity, and to teach them all to sing "Imagine"?
