But she already *IS* history- living history. /sarcam
If she does blame Bush, she'll be inconsequential history. Of course, to me, she already is.

Which illustrates that the UN would not pacify the situation. We must remember that Lebanon and Somalia were both UN operations.
To: Ragtime Cowgirl
Thanks for the ping. Hopefully there were no US or any of our "real" Allies as casualties.

It was designed for no such thing - this bomb wasn't planted by One-Worlders trying to increase the role of the U.N. in Iraq, but by Islamic militants and/or Ba'ath Party dead-enders trying to scuttle the creation of a post-Saddam Iraq. Right. And the way to do that is to make sure that all of the foreign entities end up grouped together, so that any non-Iraqi face is an automatic target.
This would be the work of Saddam's loonies, perhaps with the cooperation of the other salamikazes in-country. They'd be hoping that increased security would alienate normal Iraqis, and thus drive them back into Saddam's camp.

I can understand why you might believe the UN in Baghdad would hide Saddam, but I don't think even they'd dare do that. They need our military to get their own peacekeepers out of hot water.
New FN banner:
UN: 2 dead, at least 40 wounded.

Why don't the other UN "players" get involved in security?
To: Steve_Seattle
I disagree. My theory must be part of the consideration. Expect us to be drawn closer to the UN as a result of this. We were not seen as "partnering" with the UN in the past. We will be under pressure to do this in the future.

I posted that earlier to Miss Marple - that CNN was playing it straight for once. I spoke too soon because they then had Jamie Rubin on and he was perfectly awful.

Yes, he's over there and ABC news has reported his office can't contact him.
However, Kay Baily Hutchinson said her entire delegation is safe and it's likely the Senators are all together and Inhoffe's office just can't get through the phone lines with the current crisis going on.
