I humbly ask my fellow FReepers join in prayer for two of my co-workers who both attempted suicide recently.
Joyce slit her wrist last week, and Gillian slit her wrist today.
Both managed to get medical care in time.
I pray that Joyce and Gillian will find freedom from misery, and will have happiness so that no further suicide attemts are made.
Both Joyce and Gillian are single mothers.
Also, a third co-worker named Wendy told me that she wonders if she would be better off dead than have to work at my workplace.
Joyce, Gillian and Wendy are all good people.
Please pray for my friends.

I ask God that my co-workers Joyce, Gillian, and Wendy will find happiness and be able to enjoy life. I pray He will give them shelter from despair, and will use His power to give them an appreciation for life, and refuge from suffering.

It sounds more like a cry for help than a failed suicide attempt. Both ladies need help from a mental health professional.

I do not blame the people at your work, but I am curious if your work environment is particularly hostile. My husband is quitting a job in an environment so saturated with false witness and managerial sadism that I'm surprised there aren't suicides there.
Even married couples with kids need more help than anyone in this isolating society usually gets. For the single and alone, little problems are magnified because there is nobody to pitch in, and it gets so tiring.
Wonder where the sperm donors of the little ones are, and why they aren't being good husbands and daddies.

Are these your suicidal co-workers, Joyce, Gillian, and Wendy? ___________________________________________________________
"Not a bad idea where I work.
Some of the "adults" who work there need remedial lessons on how to use a bathroom properly.
Lessons included should be how to flush a toilet, how to wash one's hands, how to lift a toilet seat, and how to wipe one's ass.
I'm not kidding.

Prayers and best wishes. I worked for a hellhole back in '99. Heart quit beating on the way home from work. Turn the owner in!

But seriously, I'm not kidding here folks.
My co-workers and friends are truly in need of help.

My prayers are on their way up for you and your co-workers. Is there a company EAP (Employee Assistance Program) where you work? If so, please see them with your stories. Your cases will be kept confidential, but they will be able to guide your employer to take care of the toxic situations that have so distressed all of you. If harassment is an issue, your interests are protected by law. Your company will have a policy how to report such incidents. If all else fails, you need to be working elsewhere. Good luck!

What circumstances could possibly exist at your workplace that are so horrible that they would have 3 employees resort to such drastic thoughts/deeds?
To: Momaw Nadon
Also, a third co-worker named Wendy told me that she wonders if she would be better off dead than have to work at my workplace. Sounds like a horrible place to work -- is there any criminal or abusive behavior you can report to the authorities? Are you sure the women aren't the victims of some sort of sexual abuse by someone at work (in my paranoid mind, I am imagining a "you 'please' me or I'll fire you" scenario). I don't know where you work or anything -- I'm just guessing what could drive women to a desperate act like attempting suicide. It seems strange that two women working at the same place would attempt suicide in a short time-span, and now another woman is saying that maybe suicide is better than working there. Something seems very wrong.

Well, if you only wanted prayers, then you should not have provided any details. You know how FReepers are.
We not only want to help, "we" want to analyze (and occasionally dabble in dark humor.)
Oh, heck, I am drastically underestimating the dark humor factor. :-(
I have had a good internet friend suicide in the last year, and my mother's neighbor just shot himself in the head. He was the last of his mother's three children--his older brother and sister had died of cancer in the last couple of years. It's terrible for her to have survived three children, and for the last to shoot himself in her home.
I wonder if despair is on the increase.
