[history]
Jose Concepcion Benzor Espinosa was dwelling in darkness long before he was committed to the Federal Medical Center at Devens for what should have been a routine psychological evaluation. Then, seven weeks after entering the prison hospital, Benzor's bleak world plunged into total blackness.

This guy needs help. We should ship him back to Mexico and let the Mexican welfare system take care of him.

I couldn't see doing that.

Mucho words devoted to a psychotic illegal alien, er, undocumented worker ... Was this Bush's fault, or was it the fault of the racist white culture of oppression and domination? It has to be one or the other (or both.)

Hey, just another example of one of those salt-of-the-earth, hardworking illegal immigrants who take the jobs - like ripping out their own eyeballs - that Americans just don't want.

This is like something out of Shakespeare. That would be Homer, but this guy is no Oedypus. And as sad as this story would seem, there are many incidents of misery in the world more deserving of my empathy than this pathetic soul. Ship him to California. Dumb, blind, handicapped, mentally deviant, minority, social case, with litigous potential... just the kind of electorate west coast Democrats dream about.

I'll have to "keep an eye out" for follow-ups on this story. Maybe this is how they coined the phrase "out of sight, out of mind!"

And it still is likely that he will be sent back to Mexico. "What will he do then?" wonders Gonzalez-Gamio, the consul
What was Mexico doing for him while he was there and mentally ill.
Why is this our problem?

"However, Benzor still faces deportation on the federal charges, said Shana Jones, special assistant to the US attorney in the Western District of Texas, where the case is being prosecuted. And it still is likely that he will be sent back to Mexico. "What will he do then?" wonders Gonzalez-Gamio, the consul. "A paranoid-schizophrenic who's now blind or partially blind? It's one of the worst diagnoses in the world."
If Mizz Gonzalez-Gamio is so worried about this murderer, she should take him back to Mexico, move him into her casa and take care of him while he plays with her children.

Wow! Just like Ray Milland in "The Man with the X-ray Eyes," a real gem from the fifties. At the end, he plucks out his eyes out of madness from the X-ray feature of his eyes, and heard a traveling preacher say "if thine eye offends thee, pluck it out!!" That's all it took. Maybe he saw the same movie!
On a serious note, his sister ought to be taking care of him! In Mexico. The quotes "How did this happen? I don't understand. Who's going to take care of him now?" said his sister Maria Duran, who was stunned to hear of her brother's condition. Duran, who lives in Houston, did not know that Benzor had injured himself or that he had been arrested until she was contacted by a Boston Globe reporter." say it all. She didn't give a damn about him until a reporter tracked her down, and now she has to fein concern.

Hopefully he will make his way to Oregon. Gee, thanks! We could use a couple of more insane vagabonds. God knows we don't have enough yet. I think I saw a spot of sidewalk yesterday with no urine on it.
