AFP - The Al-Arabiya news channel said it had received a letter purportedly from Iraq's former number two Ezzat Ibrahim promising to avenge the deaths of Saddam Hussein's slain sons.
If authentic, it would be the first message from Ibrahim, who was also vice president of the once-powerful Revolution Command Council, since the fall of the former regime in April 9.
"I swear that no-one will be left at peace as long as Uday and Qusay are not avenged, as long as Iraq is not liberated and as long the infidel colonisers, traitors and apostates are not killed," said the letter, dated July 30, a copy of which was obtained by AFP.
"Iraqis, old and young, have vowed to avenge the two princes of jihad and the martyrs, Uday and Qusay," added the text, interspersed with Koranic verses.
Uday and Qusay were killed in a gunbattle with US troops on July 22 in the northern city of Mosul, after coalition forces were tipped off by an informer.
Ibrahim is on a US most wanted list of 55 members of the deposed regime.
It's awfully dubious that he didn't even sent an audio tape, just a letter.
