Relax! If California were a nation unto itself, it would rank as the seventh largest economy in the world! What's happening in California, is gradually happening throughout the United States, (more slowly in states with a less hospitable climate). The dumbing-down of the electorate is not unique to California. What's the state of the educational system in Pennsylvania? We have a southern border with Mexico as well. We could probably defend the border ourselves, but, then Federal Government might send the Marines to protect the un-documented immigrants!

Expel 5 million Mexican invaders, change the law so that children born here don't automatically become citizens, open up the coast to offshore drilling, and vote for only conservative Republicans.

They don't have to change the law. All they have to do is interpret the 14th Amendment as it was intended. This is the first interpretation of the 14th Amendment on record.

The first observation we have to make on this clause is that it puts at rest both the questions which we stated to have been the subject of differences of opinion. It declares that persons may be citizens of the United States without regard to their citizenship of a particular State, and it overturns the Dred Scott decision by making all persons born within the United States and subject to its jurisdiction citizens of the United States. That its main purpose was to establish the citizenship of the negro can admit of no doubt. The phrase, "subject to its jurisdiction" was intended to exclude from its operation children of ministers, consuls, and citizens or subjects of foreign States born within the United States.

The divisive California Republican Party handed them control. The GOP is mired in the muck of a bunch of factious "more conservative than thou" babies. The current Gubernatorial is a perfect example.

The Liberal faction has maintained discipline and only fielded on real candidate, Bustamonte. The GOP, ever divided and without discipline, has fielded three major candidates. One GOP candidate is a winner, the other two are spoilers. The spoilers will, once again, hand the election to liberals. What principle are the spoilers campaigning on?

Ray Haynes (R-Murrieta, Riverside County) (now Assemblyman Haynes) opposed a bill tripling the car tax, admonishing his liberal Democrat colleagues: "You have a spending addiction! And what we're saying is, we're going to do the right thing, and we're not going to give you -

at least willingly - more of the drug. We are not going to let you destroy yourselves and destroy this state through your addiction. We are going to say, 'No!' and when you finally face the problem, and when you finally look at the people in the State of California and say you've got a problem, that's when we'll say, 'OK, let's start dealing with . . . your spending addiction.' "
