Fresno residents and community leaders, outraged by an e-mail message in which City Council Member - Jerry Duncan wished he had a "dirty bomb" to kill every liberal in Fresno, called Thursday for his resignation, recall or reprimand.

Yeah, Saundra...and, knowing that, Jerry should have KNOWN BETTER than to make such comments on a city-owned computer. Not too terribly bright on Jerry's part.

The problem is not that it's a hypocritical charge, but that Republicans need to be SMARTER in what they say, because they should KNOW the liberal media WILL hold them to a higher standard, so we must hold OURSELVES to an even HIGHER standard. DON'T give them any ammo!

Years ago, my wife's son had a cheap Radio Shack scanner that I was listening to one evening when a guy put a call through to a democrat activist headquarters and wanted informtion that he could use in his campaign against the republican candidate (Tim Lesle) in the next election.

I can't recall if he used the term 'dirt' but that's what he was asking for and it took a while for the woman on the other end to understand what he was looking for specificaly. He wanted his votes on anything that could make Leslie look bad, votes against spending for children, etc. The woman said she'd get back to him with whatever she could come up with.

A real eye-opener for me as to the game of politics and how it is played.

Seems character assination is all they've got in their arsenal. Attempts by the Right to attack a leftist's character could backfire- making them more attractive to the Left.
