Abrams, Not Ventura, Will Get MSNBC Primetime Slot

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Jesse Ventura is not headed for primetime on MSNBC, the network announced on Thursday.

Instead, the former independent governor of Minnesota will host a weekly Saturday show this fall from Minneapolis and serve as a political analyst for all of MSNBC's programs. He will also host a weekday radio show.

MSNBC will keep its current primetime lineup intact with "The Abrams Report" remaining in the 9 p.m. time slot. Hosted by NBC News' chief legal correspondent Dan Abrams, the show gained 13% in viewers in July from June, the only cable news program to do so, although his ratings have declined in August.

In a statement MSNBC president Erik Sorenson said Abrams' show "is the perfect program four our young, smart audience during this period of high profile legal stories."

MSNBC and Ventura have been conducting dry runs of a talk show in recent months, and network executives apparently concluded that the weekly route was the way to go.

"Jesse and I have agreed that this is the best venue for his unconventional approach to politics and television," Sorenson said.

Word had leaked out earlier this year that MSNBC had retained the former wrestler, but this is the first time the network has officially acknowledged its dealings with him.

Says a lot for Hannity & Colmes, doesn't it? And Greta? Scarborough is infinitely better.

Fox seems to have missed a vital point. If their programming carries even a hint of conservative content, they will be considered a bastion of the VRWC. So if they are going to be labeled that way, why do they not be that way?

There is no such thing as compromising with the liberals. The only thing that ends-up being compromised is the other party's principles. That is why when I hear the word moderate or the phrase middle-of-the-road, I start feeling a little queasy.

That's because, in June & July, Abrams was All Scott Peterson, All The Time. His ratings declined after the judge imposed a gag order.
