THE French and Germans are scrambling for lucrative Iraqi contracts despite bitter opposition to the war.
Their recession-hit firms are desperate to cash in on rebuilding the country wrecked by Saddams 25-year tyranny.
French President Jacques Chirac and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder are backing their firms bids.
It puts them in direct competition with Britain, which put lives on the line to oust Saddam.
Around £100BILLION is to be spent on new telecoms, schools, hospitals, power stations, highways and oil pipelines.
One of the biggest contracts up for grabs is for rebuilding Umm Qasr seaport. Tony Blair wants that order to go to Britain, whose minesweepers cleared the way for humanitarian aid.
He still hasnt forgiven Chirac and Schroeder for sabotaging UN support for military action.

Oh, I think we can give the french and germans the porta-potty contracts. They might be able to handle that.

IF their firms get contracts, I hope they're only for minor, piddling things. NONE of us should forget the backstabbing and hate campaigning of Gerhardt OR Jaques.
