I devote a great deal of time to bashing certain conservatives for their support of the Iraq war, so now in celebration of A Cry for Help's becoming A Fair and Balanced Cry for Help, I'm going to balance things out a bit by taking aim at the Left.
Widespread power outages are also being reported in Detroit, Cleveland and Toledo, as well as in Toronto, Ottawa and throughout Ontario (The Agonist)
The Northeast USA (and Ontario, Canada) went dark the other day when a power station in New York state gave up the ghost; knocking out a significant chunk of the northeast power grid. (Happily, most of Southern New England was unaffected so I can still blog.) Gov. Bill Richardson (D-NM), Mr Clinton's Secretary of Labor, was just on television whining about the urgent need to upgrade the system.
Which got me t'thinkin', as they say in Missour-ah.
1) If Mr. Richardson was aware of this problem when he was Secretary of Energy, why didn't the Clinton Administration address it? (I can think of few more serious national security concerns than a stable power infrastructure.)
2) Where, exactly, would he propose that we get the additional juice?
Liberals, like Mr. Richardson and his environmentalist fellow travelers, have:
1) Prevented us from developing nuclear energy. (They claim it's unsafe but France and Italy have had nuclear fed grids for years.)
2) They've passed legislation making it well nigh impossible to build new oil burning generating plants. (Oh the pollution!)
3) Hydro power plants negatively impact wetlands. (The poor little fishies)
4) And when utilities in New England attempted to build a wind farm off the Massachusetts coast such leftist luminaries as Walter Cronkite and Teddy Kennedy pitched a blue fit because it would trash their oceanfront views. (The plan was scrapped.)
So, my Liberal friends, my question to you is: How do you propose that we address our urgent power generating needs if nuclear, oil, gas, hydro, and wind soultions are off the table? And please spare us the "We need to conserve" line. No nation in history ever conserved itself to greatness. Our power needs have risen exponentially since the grid was last upgraded. (Take a look at your computers, your cell phone and PDA chargers, your cappucino makers, your central air conditioning units, and all that lovely urban sprawl...)
So let's hear some ideas!
Limbaugh echo syndrome bump.
Welcome to the club.....
You forgot Sen. and Mrs. Catsup (Ketchup?).
Liberals are best at creating problems, Conservatives excel at solving them.
Consequently, the most efficient division of labor would result in exporting all liberals to our enemies, while keeping all conservatives at home.
Liberals, very Gods, err?
Blasphemy!! Burn you at the stake!!
I assume you have been mugged by Reality. Welcome.
A faulty distribution system from the 50's??????
In 21st century America,
that is just plain wrong
and we need to take our country back from the LIB's
