..only the Romans could put someone to death. So the Jewish leaders certainly played their part. But that doesn't mean "the Jews" killed Jesus..
Saul was a Jew and a Roman citizen. Saul was complaisant in the killing of Christians and he was a promoter of the persecution of the Christian cult. I wonder who the "me" is supposed to be in the following verse.
Acts 9:4And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him,
Saul,
Saul,
why persecutest thou
me?
(Whole Chapter:
Acts 9 In context:
Acts 9:3-5)
I am not wanting to debate or to be argumentative. It is just sometimes it seems that people leave certain things out. King Herod himself was a Jew. Other Roman leaders were also born or converted Jews. At the time of the first century it has been estimated (I am quoting a source from memory, but I can verify, if that is now a requirement to document all sources for comments posted on a FR.com thread) that up to 10 percent of the Roman Empire's citizens were born to, or converted to Judaism. (Gosh I sure hope that I can dig out my old college text books in order to prove that I am not making stuff up.)
