Davis Is Doomed: Hillary Won't Even Return His Calls
Newsmax.com ^ | 8-15-03 | Carl Limbacher

For the past couple of weeks there have been reports in the media that Sen. Hillary Clinton would campaign for California Gov. Gray Davis. But his support has vanished, and so has she.

Forget Bill Clinton; Hillary is "the one Davis really wants on his side," the New York Post's Page Six column reported today.

"She is very popular out there and he thinks she can save him. But she isn't so keen - she hasn't returned his calls yet," the Post quotes a "politically connected spy" as saying.

In California last week, Hillary denounced the recall.

"We don't currently have any plans to return," one of her handlers told the Post.

"Currently" is likely to translate as "never," considering Davis' plunging popularity. The statewide nonpartisan Field Poll released today showed that 58 percent of likely California voters want Davis out of office, up from 51 percent just a month ago. Sixty-eight percent predicted he'd get the boot Oct. 7.

Now Hillary must decide whether to avoid being tainted by him or to hold her nose and play the hero to Democrat hard-liners by rallying around his disastrous governance.

Isn't she pregnant with a tumor or something? Didn't I see that here somewhere?

why don't you just keep on trucking instead of stopping here to gripe.

oh, I dunno. I find others' input and observations about various sources to be helpful sometimes. I take 'em or leave 'em.

My theory is that the Clintons never really intended to help Davis but wanted to goose the recall story at a critical juncture by saying they would campaign for him.

Ultimately, they win the less the focus is on the Democrat primaries so Hillary's star can continue to rise.

I don't think they intended to help Davis for one minute. With the Clintons, it's always necessary to analyze the end game when trying to decipher their motives and there was NO upside to helping Davis by campaigning for him and being attached to a loser. Had to be something else at hand.

I don't mind what anyone says about a news source. I just don't like being harped on as if I run the source.

She doesn't want to seen standing next to him, because she outweighs him two-to-one.

From the Pruden column:

The ex-prez is finishing his book, ready for a splash in the spring,

LOL! In a sink or on a dress?

Right but Hillary's Lovely Legs went to a book signing and asked her who was on the cover. Did you see that one? Anyway, she said Hitlery was definitely toting something under that crusty pant suit.

Why would the Gov. of California be calling the junior senator from New York for help?

She knows Satan personally.

Maybe Gary Condit will step up and campaign for Davis.

Probably, an undescended testicle.

I read HLL's thread. I would have loved to have seen her face when she asked that.

Nope. Last night Hillary blamed Bush and favorably mentioned Davis regarding the power outage. Have you seen that thread today? Grrrrr....

I have seen a couple of threads about her blaming Bush, but I didn't see anything about her mentioning Davis. Still, just mentioning Davis isn't the same as going to Cali to campaign for him.

I would have thought that Hillary the Jackal would have been first in line to tear at the body. She seems to cannibalize everyone who gets in her path.

It's right here:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/964627/posts

Sen. Clinton also accused the White House of throwing "a lot of roadblocks in the way of [Calif. Gov. Gray] Davis, when he tried to clean up some of the problems that he had with the manipulation of the energy markets by Enron and others."

They played a quip from Davis on the radio this morning, where he declared that the NE blackout didn't affect CA. The hosts varied between pointing out how stupid this was, and how insensitive his comments were.

The man is doomed.
