For the past couple of weeks there have been reports in the media that Sen. Hillary Clinton would campaign for California Gov. Gray Davis. But his support has vanished, and so has she.
Forget Bill Clinton; Hillary is "the one Davis really wants on his side," the New York Post's Page Six column reported today.
"She is very popular out there and he thinks she can save him. But she isn't so keen - she hasn't returned his calls yet," the Post quotes a "politically connected spy" as saying.
In California last week, Hillary denounced the recall.
"We don't currently have any plans to return," one of her handlers told the Post.
"Currently" is likely to translate as "never," considering Davis' plunging popularity. The statewide nonpartisan Field Poll released today showed that 58 percent of likely California voters want Davis out of office, up from 51 percent just a month ago. Sixty-eight percent predicted he'd get the boot Oct. 7.
Now Hillary must decide whether to avoid being tainted by him or to hold her nose and play the hero to Democrat hard-liners by rallying around his disastrous governance.

She'd love to call Grave Davis but she's too busy
ministering to her millions of sweating constituants. She's
working overtime to fix the grid.

The 'Toons don't have friends, only beneficial sembiotic relationships. Gray should know this better than anyone, they're birds of the same feather.

If Hillary will not help Gray then she thinks he is toast. The Clinton's will not do anything with out first figuring out whats in it for them. They do not want to be connected with a loser. If they thought there was an upside for them on this they would be in here with both feet. CA. has 50 plus electoral votes and Hillary would do anything to get them. If she is not answering the phone, bye, bye Gray.

I have to wonder how scared she is of Arnie. For whatever we may think about him, he is a very well-liked celebrity. If she was to come out against slinging mud against a celeb like him, it might just backfire on her.

NewsMax has got to be among the most useless organizations I've ever seen. They never seem to do any of their own reporting -- they just tell us what other papers are saying.
Next time why don't you just post the article from the original source, thereby saving us the trouble of wading through Limbacher's unneccesary spin?

Her political and social betters, the Kennedys, may have used the old vaudeville hook on her.

I have a better idea: next time, when you see the word "Newsmax" in the source space, why don't you just keep on trucking instead of stopping here to gripe.

"Davis Is Doomed: Hillary Won't Even Return His Calls." The hell you say?
I didn't even know Hillary was representing California. Why would the Gov. of California be calling the junior senator from New York for help?

The Clinton's will not do anything with out first figuring out what's in it for them. If Gray Davis gets 25% of the vote in favor of retaining him, I'll be shocked. I truly hope the Clintons campaign for him.

Maybe so, but the late night jokes they write are very funny!

I don't think there was any true happiness in the world until Hillary came along, was there? Can you imagine being a female physicist or brain surgeon and have to live with the fact that you will never be considered as smart as Hillary?
