It is entirely possible that we will never agree on this, for sure.
But I would submit to you, that given the fact that Terri has clung to what's left of her physical life for many years, perhaps she is not as ready to die as you or I would imagine we would be, given the same circumstances.
I can ethically agree with a Do Not Ressucitate instruction based on the best medical evidence that a physical body is being artificially prolonged by extreme and intrusive artificial medical means.
I do not consider mere feeding tubes an excessive medical intrusion, particularly in this case.
That is not the same as asking if I would want to live as she does.No, consciously I would not choose to do so.
Now ask me if I would let someone remove a feeding tube from my child, incapicitated in a similar situation.
We are speaking of removing a feeding tube, to kill Terri by starvation.It will take a while for her to die, from starvation.
This is not a DNR situation.
