Has anyone considered that the light from the initial bang has already gone out? It is possible that the birth certificate has faded away and that whatever evidience there was may have already sped by us.

Actually we can "see" the echo from the Big Bang. It is the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) Radiation. Sometimes noted as CMBR also.

I've read that, like ripples coming back off the bank of a lake, the reverberations are apparant...but wht I'm getting at is the actual event may have burnt itself out and it's direct evidence (that hubblesque technology would be able to detect) may have already blew by us, gone for good.

"The earth has a non-trivial moon, which makes it wobble slightly in its solar orbit. Thus, the real center of mass of the earth-moon system is a bit off from the geographical center of the earth. Since the satellite also feels the tug of the moon, it is basically orbiting the earth-moon center of gravity. "
Yes, The center of mass of the Earth-moon system lies about halfway between the Earth's center and its surface. This 'wobble' of the Earth is responsible for the second tide each day - on the side opposite the moon.
