Report: Rob Lowe May Join Arnold[Schwarzenegger]'s Campaign Team
Fox News Online ^ | 8/15/03

Former "West Wing" star Rob Lowe may get into politics for real -- as an advisor to Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The Los Angeles Times reports that the dashing actor who played the White House deputy communications director Sam Seaborn on the NBC political drama, may join the campaign team.

Lowe is a longtime Democratic activist and friend of Schwarzenegger's and of his wife Maria Shriver.

Schwarzenegger is running for Calif. Governor on the Republican ticket. There are 135 other candidates, including has-been actor Gary Coleman, running in the Oct. 7 governor recall election.

Citing unnamed campaign sources, the Times says Schwarzenegger and Shriver, who is a member of the Kennedy clan, asked Lowe to take a senior campaign spot.

Bonnie Reiss, a strategist for Schwarzenegger's campaign who's also a Democrat, told the newspaper that she's met with Lowe. Campaign representative Karen Hanretty would say only that a formal announcement about the campaign team would be made in days to come.

"Rob Lowe is a nice guy and wonderful actor and pretty thoughtful for a liberal."
Wasn't Rob Lowe caught a few years ago secretly videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl in his DNC motel room? I think the girl found the videotape and turned him in. Strange the Dems love him for doing that and hate Linda Tripp for taping Monica.

Another Democrat liberal. No surprise. What does surprise me is that his groupies still attempt to spin this.

Let's all remember Arnold has been a declared candidate for just one week. Things are already going downhill rapidly.

Rob Lowe, Buffet and the campaign manager are certainly not conservative. That was the point I was trying to make. What you say may certainly come true, but I hope no one has any misconceptions about what they are going to get given what has happened so far.

I agree with you on the people you mentioned. But I guess my point is that Arnold is not picking advisers based on ideology...he's putting together a team that can win, which seems to be the overriding goal regardless of the issues. Would I be happier that Lowe is not involved? Sure. Would I be happier if Buffet isn't here? You bet. But given the dynamics of the situation, ie, no OTHER GOP candidate getting even 10% of the vote, can conservatives afford to "stand firm", as someone else has suggested, and allow the RATS to keep the governor's mansion?

My point is that if people like Pete Wilson and George Schultz are willing to back Arnold, then I think that the conservative wing of the GOP in California needs to decide whether or not to play ball or play spoiler. Remember that this election has major implications for 2004 at all federal levels.

You are dead on right about having national implications. No argument there. And I also have the highest regard for George Shultz so I guess I'll sit back and watch the good people of CA pick the person of their choice. I'm curious why McClintock (sp?) and Simon didn't do better in the polls?

Me: Documentation? That's (ie: Rob Lowe's sex with a minor) serious stuff to banter around

You: You must be too young to remember when he got in big time trouble due to video taping himself having sex with an underaged girl in a motel room.

------------

I'm far from too young to remember, unless it happened before 1960 or so <^..^> Maybe I'm too old to remember...I don't spend all that much time keeping up on Hollywood personalities stuff.

I am serious, though. This does not pass the WIIWTC test...conservative Republicans would be screaming uncontrollably if a Democrat had a sex offender on staff.

Rob Lowe was pretty chummy w/Bill Clinton, used to visit him at the White House w/his two children. He thought it was funny that BC would let the kids handle his brief case containing secret documents. I think Rob Lowe and Arianna
Huffington are both media whores.

This whole recall extravaganza is turning into the nightmare I feared it would. So now, with Simon and McClintock fighting for the same voters, the Terminator bringing in Buffett and Lowe, and Cruz Bustamante waiting out there like the vulture he is, all I can do is shake my head that the recall proponents were too dense to realize what a Pandora's box it was that they insisted on opening. Sigh.

To be fair, Bill Simon is also a genuine conservative. But he's also an inept dope, politically speaking.

Would it be OK to criticize Maxine Waters if she ran as a Republican? Would we have to shut up? Would she be a Demonrat in RINO drag? How about Good Time Charlie Goodell, appointed to RFK's Senate seat after he was killed. Goodell, a conservative veteran Congressman from Southwestern New York immediately shucked his conservatism for liberalism beyond RFK's including becoming an immediate antiwar sissy. Spiro Agnew came to New York as Vice President with Nixon's obvious approval and promptly called Goodell the Christine Jorgensen (transexual male celebrity at the time) of the Republican Party, endorsed Jim Buckley and Buckley served a distinguished term.

That 11th commandment was designed to keep Ronaldus Maximus personally out of intramural jams. I am not running for office as he was. He also slammed them effectively by omission by telling Republican delegates in 1976 to work for candidates for governor, senator, Congress, and state legislature and win a big victory: Translation: OK, his accidency Ford, bought, beat and threatened his way to the nomination. Let's beat him and we'll be back in 1980, So Reagan was and now, as Paul Harvey might say, you know the rest of the story. Viva! Ole! as Reagan's delegates used to say in 1976.

Right. Schwarzentaxer tried to vote in 2000 but they just cannot find his papers. Or, maybe he applied but could not be bothered to send them in. Sure sounds like he would be a real worldbeater for Dubya. Did he manage to vote against his soulmate Grayout Doofus last year or was that too much trouble too?

"rob Lowe is a nice guy and wonderful actor and pretty thoughtful for a liberal"

What's a nice guy? and I don't rate a man by his acting
expertise, he's very well paid for that. Once a person has
been tainted by scandal, it's very hard for anybody to take
them seriously. Why would Rob Lowe be exception to the rule?
