No...no...it's not the sales tax (Washington lingo) it's the G.S.T. tax that's on every damn thing there. When we visit we always get a portion of it back as non-residents when we cross the border (poor sucker Canadians, taxing the hell out of themselves only). My wife named the G.S.T. the Great Stupid Tax -- and even said that to the Canadian clerk as she was giving us our rebate one time. Lady about busted her gut laughing so hard.

Ohmygosh. They're not looting the museums are they??? Just think of all the ancient Canadian history that might be lost!!! Those artifacts go back *dozens* of years!!!

If you use a credit card, the tax is automaticly deleted and you don't have to file for it, you also don't have to bother with the conversion to Canadian funds.

We called it the Gouge (A large amount, as of money, exacted or extorted) and Screw Tax in BC...adding 7% Federal tax to 7% Provincial tax and then on top of that paying about 54% income tax..gives you an idea of the taxation that goes on North of the 49th..I was not in the highest tax bracket at 54%, my father in law is in a much higher tax bracket and he a Carpenter at a Pulp and Paper Mill.. Oh boy Social Democracy...What a Joke
