Gov't: N.Y. Power Outages Not Terrorism-Related

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on Thursday said that a massive power outage that hit New York City and other East Coast cities was not caused by a terror attack.

Power outages were reported in the New York metropolitan area and Detroit, as well as in Toronto and Ottawa, witnesses said.

The outage was caused by an outage at a Manhattan power plant which destabilized the power grid as far as Canada, FERC spokesman Bryan Lee said.

"We have no indication that there is any terrorism involved," Lee said.

If it is like the power failure in the 1960's in Exeter NY we can always blame it on UFO'S!

Its called a Water Furnace and provides both heating and cooling. We have four 200 foot wells with a closed loop system connected to a heat exchanger and compressor. We put it in when the house was built last year. Works best as an AC since incoming water temp is 59-60 F and getting chilled air from this is easy (and cheap).

I stand by my statement.

We, the American citizens have tolerated abuses for the last 2 years, in an effort to protect us.

If the American government has failed to prevent a simple power outage (not related to terrorist activity), then they have violated the contract between citizens and government.

I also heard the other way around, that the Niagara-Mohawk powergrid overloaded, and that caused the plant in NY to shut down automatically, and this shut down caused the plant to release smoke.

"the contract between citizens and government "

You may want to check the fine print. Batteries are not included. Some assembly is required.

Your reaching here,what contract?

Maybe you consider a power outage as a "domestic enemy"??

Liberal heck!

I have been searched at the airports. I and my family has had to obey orders from the government, which violates every Freeper instinct that I have.

But, we have obeyed the new Federal rules in support of our President and understood that we are at war.

Stupidity can not, and will not be tolerated!

Now that the green kooks have made it impossible to site a new power plant, this is what happens.

Do you have any idea how complex the power grid is?

It's a true testament to human ability and ingenuity that it works as well as it does.
But like all things, sometimes it breaks. Then we fix it, and try to anticipate how it will break next time.

Nothing you, or anyone else can do to change this.

I know!

Ok, let me turn this around.

Why, with a major power outage, is the current government not being held responsible?

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

lets see 4 wells times 200 feet each times 16 dollars per foot equalls 12,800 dollars divided by 120 (30 years summer months only) months equals another 3.55 cents per day. 3.55 plus 1.56 equals 5.11 per day or 153.30 dollars per day. That is more that I pay for 3000 sq feet.
